Door gasket needed to be replaced.
I removed all of the expandable pins that held the gasket and the inner door panel, and removed the old gasket from the inner door panel. The new gasket was then placed around the edges of the inner panel. While holding the gasket and panel in the proper location, the expandable pins were inserted into the mounting holes, finishing the installation. Read more...

Ice crystals formed near gasket.
Removed the freezer door which had an electrical cord routed through the lower hinge with a disconnect under the freezer. Job works better with two people. Working the gasket into place was a little tricky at the corners. The putty knife was helpful. Make sure door is not warped when replaced on freezer. If warped slightly the door can be twisted to make gasket fit evenly bottom to top on front edge. Hope this helps DIY folks. Read more...

The freezer door gasket needed to be replaced.
When I received the new gasket I took a blow dryer to it and straightened out the warped areas prior to removing the old gasket. I then looked for a tool to remove the pins holding the gasket in place. I found a butter knife worked the best to get underneath and pry them out. Since this is a chest freezer, the pins in the back of the door were very hard to remove and one of them even broke off as I was removing it. Of course I had no spare pins when I went to put the new gasket in place. The new gasket slid right on and the pins snapped into place with a little bit of HARD pressure. My advice is to make sure that you do the back of the door first, since it is hard to line up the holes and the pins otherwise. It would not have been a difficult repair if not for the pins giving me trouble. There are no instructions sent showing how to do any of this work, so if you are not knowledgeable about gaskets this repair could be a difficult one. Maybe the company could include some basic instructions as a help to their customers. Read more...
