This is a surface burner igniter, also known as a top burner ignitor and stove top spark electrode. It is used to generate the spark that lights the surface burner. If your stove will not start, element does not heat, or gas igniter glows but does not light, replacing the igniter can solve these issues. For this installation, you will need a Phillips screwdriver and needle nose pliers. First place the grate on top of the burner, then lift the burner and disconnect the wires. Next remove the two Phillips screws from the bottom of burner, pull igniter out of the burner and wiggle in the new one. Refer to the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer for more instructions.

spark igniter was weak and not lighting the flame.
Open top oven door and remove the 2 front screws which hold the burners and controls to the frame. DO NOT lift the burners more than an inch or so to look inside. You WILL bend the gas lines in the back if you do. Pull out stove from the wall, shut off gas supply and disconnect hose if needed to have room to work. Remove top back panel and remove the 3 wires connecting the top burner assembly and also remove the 2 gas lines. Now you will be able to remove the burner assembly safely. Flip it over and try to unscrew the screw holding the igniter. When you fail, drill it out and get a small metal screw to replace it. The metal is soft and the screw is hard, so drill carefully. The rest is easy, put in the new igniter and screw. and put it back together. Read more...

Spark igniter out
The primary spark igniters failed. Take the (small) screws out of the sides and bottom of the pan. The front of the pan must be removed from the bottom, because the front burner igniter wire is too short to allow reassembly once attached. Only other is the screws for the attachment bracket are larger than the holes. Suggest routing them out slightly to get them to grip the screws. Otherwise it is quite simple. Pull the connections with a needlenose and press the new wire connection back on firmly. Screw the screws back in the pan. Read more...

No spark at top burners, first one then eventually all 4.
Most of the repair time was spent researching the problem online, locating the spark module inside the range, and selecting the part online. Installation was easy. Key troubleshooting info for me was, if there is no clicking, the spark unit is probably worn-out. I traced the ignition wires from the burners down to the spark module, located inside a 2x3" metal housing next to the bottom drawer. I removed 2 screws and out it came. The replacement unit pictured on the PartSelect site was not identical to the original but had the same number of contacts. I ordered the part and it arrived a few days later. The old connectors slipped easily onto the new pins, and I screwed the new unit into the range using the new metal housing. All 4 burners now spark up quickly, and we saved at least $100 on a service call. It was well worth the time and effort -- thanks! Read more...

Grill Ignitor needed to be replaced : order # 20418333
Still not fixed. Waited about a year for the part to arrive, due to "COVID supply chain issue". Part finally arrived and was missing a sub component (ironically the worn out part). Now awaiting a reorder confirmation that this is being sent along with a return mailing label.
The re-order required me to obtain a better picture of the part from your competitor's web site, to prove the part sent was defective as your site was inadequate. My first call on this issue failed because of an absence of the better picture.
The 2nd call to customer service was very understanding and professional but I have yet to receive any confirmation on this re-order in the past 5 days.

Igniter not sparking and display panel dim
i'm writing this several days after installling parts and from memory so forgive me if i miss a step or get the # of screws wrong.

Clock assembly replacement was very easy. Open oven door and remove screws just below the display panel, remove burner knobs and remove the 2 screws hidden by the knobs, remove the 2 screws holding the side triangular pieces (1 screw for each side). you may need to pull range out and away from the counter to remove the triangle pieces. remove the display panel, flip it over and remove 2 screws holding clock assembly. gentle remove the ribbon cables from the old assembly and then perform everything in reverse to reassemble.

Replacing the igniters was more difficult and took up the bulk of the time. Warning: find some way to test the spark module first. I replaced both igniters (1 wire was broken so it needed replacement for sure, but the other igniter may have been good...) and they still do not work. I'm waiting on delivery of a spark module.

remove all burner stuff (grill, burner assembly, etc.), then remove the top of the stove, there are 2 screws on each side and several in the back, there are also screws around the inside rim of the burner pans. also remove the panel on the back of the stove, this allows access to the spark module. gently lift the burner pans, reach underneath the pan and unscrew the nut holding the igniter in place. fortunately mine were easy to unscrew and i could do it with my fingers, getting a wrench underneath would have been a challenge. unhook the igniter wire from the spark module and remove the old igniter. install new igniter in reverse and reassemble.
