This dishwasher is about 12 years old. Is it worth repairing and if so, what is the estimated cost? The water doesn't drain and it just makes a humming sound,

Symptom: The dishwasher won’t start after the door latch is properly shut. Lights are still on, and a burnt wire smell came off. Please help to identify what might be the issue and what needs to be repaired or replaced. Thanks!

I used a wet vac to remove the water from the dishwasher. remove cover and filter/strainer from bottom of dishwasher. remove screw which allows you to lift the plastic piece to access check valve. Original check valve looked like new , I installed new check valve re installed parts . Job done and issue resolved .

The old Tine holders used on the upper and lower dish rack dried up and cracked/broke. So I purchased new Tine holders for the upper and lower racks and snapped the new parts in place.
