My refrigerator is freezing up in the back upper and not allowing cold air to go to the lower unit. I was told it could possibly be the defrost timer but I am having trouble locating it on this model. Can you help locate where this part is, or provide a parts number, or other suggestions thank you?
For model number FFHI1831QS5
Hello and thank you for writing.
There is no defrost timer for your unit, however a faulty thermostat PS8769097 could cause similar issues, you should check the part(s) for signs of damage, and replace it as necessary. You might also want to consider this:
A common cause of ice buildup is a faulty door seal PS9493822. If a refrigerator has a bad door seal, the outside air will pass into the fridge and cause the ice build-up problem you are experiencing.
We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.
