Will not advance form the sensing mode on start up--sensing light comes on and stays on.

Hi Charlie. This is most likely a faulty door lock. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.

The machine have a very strong odor coming from it like a wet mildew smell. We cleaned the drum with a washing machine product but still smell. Do this machine have a filter that need to be changed???
For model number GTW680BSJ4WS
Hi Rhonda, thank you for reaching out. We have found that your model does not have any filter that need to be cleaned. To clean washing machine, mix one cup of vinegar with one cup of baking soda. Pour this mixture into your washing machine and run a cycle in the hottest setting. This will help break down mold or mildew and remove the unpleasant odor. We hope this solves your problem!

We’re not understanding how the fabric softener tray works. It doesn’t seem to empty or looks like a mix of water and fabric softener. Is that normal or should it be empty?
For model number GTW680BSJ4WS
Hello Dan, thank you for your question! When using the softener (conditioner), the washing machine floods the softener compartment with water. This forces the softener to spill out over the sides and run down into the drum. This compartment is now empty of softener but full of water. The softener compartment has a small plastic tube at the back with a cap or a cover on the top. The action of the water flooding in forces some remaining water up this tube and out into the main drawer. This should start a syphoning action, which causes the remaining water to syphon up and out of the small tube, thus draining the softener compartment. The tube at the back of the softener compartment often gets blocked by the fabric softener itself. If you take out the dispenser drawer and take off the cap or device, you can give the whole thing a good clean-out. Make sure you clean through the hole in any tube leading through to the bottom of the drawer. If any part is missing, the syphoning will not occur. After cleaning, you can test the function before fitting the drawer back into the soap dispenser. Hold the soap drawer under a tap and allow water to overflow the fabric compartment. If cleaned but still leaving water in the softener compartment, then it should not be possible for the compartment to be left full of water, if the syphon tube and cap are clean and fitted properly. We hope this information is useful!

Every spin cycle goes into balancing mode. I evenly distribute the clothes, but it still goes into balancing mode and never fully spins the clothes. The washer is maybe 4 years old.
For model number GTW680BSJ4WS
Hello Larry,
Thank you for your question. Our sources suggest to check the two rod and spring assemblies under part PS12343381 for the left side and under part PS12343380 for the right side for your model and see if they are attached correctly to make sure the tub is balanced. We hope this helps.

I just purchased this machine and on every cycle it will fill up with water and then as soon as it reaches the water level it's supposed to be it stops and drains all the water out and then shuts off. That never moves on to the wash or rinse cycle. And it does not spin out the water when it rains it it just drains the majority of the water out but i always have to put it on drain and spin to get the rest of the water out of the clothing. When i do the drain in spin psycho it spins very fast so that seems to be working but there is no complete cycle on any one of the settings

Hello, Thank you for your question. I would recommend checking the timer. That typically will be a cause for the unit not continuing through the cycle. Please submit a new question if you have any follow ups. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Would not drain the water from the tub.
Very simple to repair. Be sure to drain the tub outside or into the sump pump then lay the washer on its side. The pump is right there on the bottom of the basket with 3 bolts. You will also need to remove the belt cover to get to the plug. So simple and saves you hundreds off repair man prices.

Water was dripping into the detergent tray when the unit was off.
Removed the control panel back plate cover. Removed the 3 screws that held the water control valve in place. I then unplugged each solenoid one at a time and plugged it into the new control valve. Once all wires were transferred, I pulled the old valve up and put the new valve on. Then reinstalled the screws that held it down and reinstal
