How can I disable the auto fan above the range stove top ? Fan turns on automatically when surface of stove is too hot. It remains on for a very long time until we have to u plug the microwave. I want to disable or cut the wire for fan.
For model number UMV1160CS9

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. It is not recommended to disable the cooling fan in the microwave. The fan is responsible for keeping the microwave cool when the stove below is hot. The fan will only shut off once the temperature has cooled and it will usually stay on up to an hour afterwards. We hope this helps!

light bult needed to be replaced
The nightmare was that this microwave is installed under the cabinet....in order to get to the light bulb I had to pull out my stove then squeeze into the space between the stove and counter....my old microwave light bult was much easier to change.....Shame on Whirlpool for making this so difficult.....must be a better way to cover the light bulb so that we do not need a screwdriver to remove the door to get to the light bulb

Microwave not heating, working otherwise
This was an over-the-range microwave/hood, so the replacement parts were significantly cheaper than buying a new unit.

Take microwave down (really a two-person job). Remove microwave cover (about 20 philips screws), discharge HV capacitor by shorting terminals to microwave case. Take photos before pulling anything apart. Remove plastic ducting covering part of the magnetron (3 philips screws). Remove old magnetron (4 Torx screws), need to disconnect small thermostat on side (2 philips screws) and replace with new magnetron. Replace HV diode (screw on one end, other end simply plugged into capacitor terminal). Put everything back together and it works fine.
