This is the second such handle that I have had to replace on this refrigerator in three years. At one year of age, I replaced the freezer handle and at three years of age I replaced the refrigerator handle. The handle quality is fine but the mounts are small and made of cheap plastic. They are just not made to endure day to day use.

The door handle onthe refigerator broke off.
I took off the remaining parts of the handle with the set screw. I received the new handle and put it on with a nut driver with the set screw. I took about one minute to install the new handle. It looks exactly like the old handle. It is stainless steel.

Do you need a special tool to attach part 14 to the handle?
For model number PFS23KSHAFSS
Hello Sandra, thank you for your question. The screw # 14 on the door diagram is the part that screws to the door itself. Then the handle mounted to those screws, then a set screw tightens the handle to the bottom screw. The set screw (#62 on the diagram) is WR01X20424 and you use an allen key with that screw. Do the plastic pieces that attach the door handle to part 36 sold with the handle or sold separately?

Hi Kenneth, thank you for your question. Part 36 is your handle. The only parts that are sold separately are the mounting screws. Anything else only comes with the handle. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi. The left side door handle (French door style fridge) has broken off at the bottom. Do we need both the new handle and the mounting screws you mention as coming separately?
