Code F97 GE Monogram Dbl oven
My oven continued showing code F97 when we tried to use it. It would clear sometimes in a minute or 10 min. After some research, I figured it had something to do with the upper and lower cooling fans or the associated circuit boards. These fans send a signal (2.5volts I think) back to the main board identifying they are running correctly
... Read more(fast enough). If the fans fail to get to required speed, CODE F97 appears. So, purchased both upper and lower fan units along with the corresponding circuit boards and decided to get it a shot. For a $8K oven, I had to try something.
You have to replace the items from the rear. Oven is 360+ lbs., So I purchased a lift from Harbor Freight to support the oven when I pulled it out. Once on the lift and the rear exposed, job was fairly easy.
Just remove the top and rear upper and lower panels, access the fans (circuit boards are attached to the fan housings) and replace with new. 1 hour tops for the entire job. My fans were working, but grease and dust had accumulated on the fins which I fell was my problem. Also, spinning them by hand compared to the new fans showed some drag on the old fans. It could have been a faulty circuit board, but I think it was the fans. The lift is a game changer and really makes this job not too bad.
It's been a week since repair, no F97!!! Ovens works great again!!

I have an error code F96 on my GE double wall oven. Looks like it’s the cooling fan up top.
Your site recommended replacing it with part # PS11736333.
I want to be sure that is correct, because there was another cooling fan item number that I saw on your site. # PS8754491
Did I order the correct part?
Thank you!

I am getting F96 code, maybe the cooling fan needs to be replaced?
For model number JK5500FS4SS
Hello Lisa, thank you for your question. F96 error points to a problematic cooling fan or cooling fan sensor board. The cooling fan, part number PS8754491, is the most probable culprit. If this does not help then the fan sensor board, part number PS8754576, is likely to be defective. If you would like assistance placing an order, please contact customer service. Good luck with your repair!
I have an error code that indicates a cooling fan failure. The part number for this model is no longer made but on another site I found that part number WB26x24020 is the new replacement part for this model. Can you confirm that WB26x24020 will replace the cooling fan in my model?

my double oven threw 2 different codes in 2 days .... the first was a F96 and the second was an F76.... the over was purchased new in 2017 and the bottom oven is only used during the holidays..... did I just get a lemon?
For model number JT5500EJ3ES
Hello John, thank you for reaching out. The F96 error points to a problematic cooling fan or cooling fan sensor board. The cooling fan, part number PS12742847, is the most probable culprit. If this does not help, then the fan sensor board, part number PS12170456, is likely to be defective. If you use the lower oven again and then this error shows up, pay attention to whether or not you can hear a cooling fan working. If you can hear it running and see the error, the sensor on the fan has most likely failed. If the error shows up and you cannot hear the cooling fan running, it is more likely pointing to the fan itself being faulty. On the other hand, the F76 error is a common error code that indicates that the oven is not heating up properly. The most probable culprit for this error is the control board, part number PS11725202. Before replacing the control board, we would suggest testing the temperature sensor, part number PS8754411, with an ohm meter to see if it is good. A sensor test that is good means you may need to replace your control board. We hope this sorts out your problem!
I keep getting an error message "Lower Oven Cooling Fan Error" even when I turn power off for 30 seconds at the electrical box and then back on.
How can I find where the cooling fan is?
What replacement part do I need?
For model number JK3800DH3BB
Hello Victoriar, thank you for your inquiry. Based on the understanding of the issue, we would recommend replacing the range cooling fan, part number PS11736333, to fix the issue. To replace the cooling fan, we have found some relevant instructions. These may not be of exact model but will help you with the replacement. To replace the lower oven cooling fan blower, you will need to remove both the upper and lower rear access panels. To reach the lower fan blower unthread the screws securing the access plate. You will need to disconnect the bake element wires to fully remove the plate. Disconnect the cooling fan blower power wires. Unthread the mounting screws and you can remove the old component from the rear panel. When installing a new cooling fan blower in the lower oven, transfer the bumpers from the old component to the new one. Now position the new blower on the mounting brackets, then thread and tighten the screws connect the power. Glad to be of help!
