I simply removed the back of the dryer to gain access to the heating element. Once I removed the heating element I figured I would also replace the thermostat and thermal fuse as preventive maintenance.
1st. i removed the two screws that holds the cover. 2nd. -vacumn (most time used)around to find the screws that hold the metal heat tube and shield. 3 rd. removing the screws tip the front of the tube up and pull out from the back.my element was clipped in place. Will hear element#wp8544771 and high limit thermostat#wp339914 work on above model dryer?
For model number WED8300SW0
Hello Lynn, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, these are the correct part numbers for your model. You can also get the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse as part of the thermal cut off kit part# 279973. Hope this helps!

I know that one terminal on the hi limit thermostat connects to the low limit thermostat and the other terminal connects to the heating element. Does it matter which one? Don't know if the writing on it should be right side up or upside down. The video doesn't say.

Hi, my Maytag dryer will turn on and led lights go on but when I press start, I hear a click but it actually doesn’t start. The motor doesn’t go on and the tumbler doesn’t turn. Is it enough to just change the dryer thermal fuse or do I also need to change the thermostat? Right now i just ordered the thermal fuse and waiting for delivery. Thanks
For model number YMED9600SQ0
Hello Melisa, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Door Switch PartSelect Number: PS334284. This part recognizes whether the door is open or closed and will prevent the appliance from starting if the door is open. Hope this helps!
Our trusty old dryer still works - heats and cycles - but doesn't fully dry clothes even on long / high temp settings. Is there a way to troubleshoot which part or parts need replacement? If not and I need to just replace parts until the problem is fixed, what do you suggest I do that?
For model number GEW9200LW2
Hello Jack, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend cleaning the lint filter, part number PS1491676. If this does not help, please test the following parts with a multimeter to pinpoint the fault: the moisture sensor, part number PS11741408, the internal bias thermostat, part number PS11746740, and the dryer heating element, part number PS11741416.
Also, make sure that the blower wheel, part number PS11743811, is running. We hope this sorts out your problem!
What reading should i get when i check if i need a new heating thermostat?
For model number MED9700SQ0
Hello Ted, Thank you for writing. 7E- Temperature Control Error (Over Heating) - Check to make sure unit has adequate ventilation. Check control board PartSelect Number PS11746365 , and all thermostats PartSelect Number PS11746740 , PartSelect Number PS334387 , PartSelect Number PS11741456 for defects. Replace if faulty. We hope this helps.
Dryer spins but doesn’t heat. In other videos it shows taking off the back panel. This dryers back panel is not removable. Trying to locate the area to test for not heating with multi tester.
For model number 110.64972301
Hello Tim, thank you for your query. The heating element and the thermostats are located on the right bottom side, behind the front panel. You will need to remove the front panel to test them. If they are found faulty after testing, replace them. The part number for the heating element is PS11741416 and the thermal cut-off kit is part number PS334278. We hope this solves your problem!
Tested thermistor and ohms were within 10 at 70 degrees in my house. Dryer runs and heats up to dry clothes, but stops mid cycle. On automatic cycle it shows 'Sensing' on timed dry it shows 'Drying' but it's not running. If I turn it off for a while and back on it will work long enough to dry clothes but need to fix permanently. Not sure if I need thermal fuse or high limit thermostat replacement part.
For model number WED5100HW2
Hello Danny, thank you for your inquiry. Based on your description, it seems like the issue is related to the dryer's control system. We would recommend checking the control board, part number PS16543592, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
My dryer will not cool down at the end of the cycle. Clothes are so hot. Is this the high limit thermostat or the heating element problem?
For model number WED9151yw0
Hello David, thank you for your question. That is most likely an issue with the PartSelect Number PS334387 hight limit and thermal cut off fuses, or the internal bias thermostat PartSelect Number PS11746740. We would recommend testing/replacing those parts. We hope this helps.
