The interior oven door glass panel is the innermost piece of glass that faces the inside of your oven when the door is closed. This inner oven door glass is meant to be resistant to high heat and can be accessed when the oven door is open. To complete this repair, you will need a number two Phillips screwdriver and a flat blade screwdriver. The most difficult part of this repair will be removing the oven door, so make sure when installing this part, you have a sufficient amount of work space.

The oven in the demo video did not have an interior set of screws holding in the exterior glass
Watched the repair video and started the project. Ran into a problem when trying to remove the interior panel off the door to reach the broken interior glass. On this model Kitchen Aid there is another section that is screwed in holding the exterior glass pieces in place. It prevents the interior panel from coming off the front of the
... Read moreoven door. So we had to flip over the door and unscrew the glass retaining bars to get the interior panel off and reach the glass. This allows the entire door to come apart in pieces so you have to carefully line up everything to re-assemble the door. Part of the issue with this is some of the retaining screws are not very long so you have to press the pieces back together to make sure the screw will catch in the original hole. We had to do this twice to ensure the interior door glass was laying flush on its mounts. A bit fiddly for sure, and if I was working alone it may not have been successful. But at least we know how the door is put together!

Inner door glass was cracked
My oven (late 90's/early 2000's model) didn't have the flip-down hinge locks shown in the video. It seems Whirlpool/Kitchenaid changed the hinges even though they didn't change the model number of the oven. Also, my door had 3 different kinds of sheet metal screws. Two of them have similar heads but different threads. Keep track of which is which for when you put everything back together.

Broken inside oven door glass
We followed the instructions given by Parts Service. The only problem we had (Whirlpool left two screws out of spacer bracket and it fell out requiring further removable of inner glass to replace spacer. Process took about twenty minutes.

Broken inside glass on oven door
Very easy once we figured out how to remove the oven door - which was insert the Allen keys in the holes in the hinges and pull the door out. We thought there was some way of using the Allen key to undo a pin or bolt but it was as simple as putting it through the hole in the hinge !!!!!

inner oven door glass was cracked
Removed the door and laid it flat with the cracked glass facing up. applied duct tape to the broken glass to help hold it together. Removed the screws from the frame holding the glass. lifted the frame off,removed the broken glass and replaced it with the new piece. replaced the frame. and put the door back on the oven.

We ordered the inside glass replacement. We can’t get the oven door off as it idoes not have the same hinges as the video that was sent. Any help to to get the door off would be appreciated!!!
For model number YGBS277PDQ3 whirlpool built in oven
Hello Lorraine and thanks for writing.
The first thing to do is to remove the oven door by releasing the two latches on the hinges (by hand). Then raise the door toward the vertical position and lift up. The hinges slide out of the oven housing. lay the door, inside face up on the countertop. This ensures that none of the parts will fall when disassembling the door. Next, unscrew the screws 4 top and bottom and four on the inside face. This releases the frame from the front housing. Lift the frame of the door, exposing the glass pieces. Liftoff the broken inside glass and place the new piece in the glass retaining housing. Replace the outside frame and replace all the screws. Take the door back over to the oven and slide hinge bottoms back into slots on the oven. Rotate to the horizontal position and flip latches back to the locked position. We hope this helps.
