How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Easily replaced - works great
The mounting bosses on the new part received were rounded. The old part bosses were sharp, which may have caused the one boss to fail, due to over stressing during original installation at the factory. Every U Tube video showing how to install the part, had the same boss failure on the same side of the part being replaced.

Don’t be afraid to tackle this one
If you can operate a screwdriver, and you have access to security bits with the Star tips and holes in the middle, you can replace this part in 15 minutes. The hardest part is getting the unit out of your cabinets if wall mounted like ours is - the rest is pretty straight forward!

Microwave door would not open. Plastic part inside push button cracked.
Remove outside cover of microwave.Note that there are 3 unique security screws that you will need a special screwdriver to remove. There is a YouTube video that shows how to install new part. Although this was a lot cheaper than buying a new microwave the cost of $57.00 plus shipping for this 3 inch plastic part was ridiculously expensive

Pushing on the latch would not open the door
I took the microwave out of the cabinet compartment and placed it on the counter. I removed the torx screws from the back and the two phillips head screws from each side. I then pulled the cover back and off. I removed the broken latch piece by pushing it away from me until the outside nipple was free and then pulled the piece out. I open

Door opening mechanism failed suddenly
Although the housing cover of the microwave had the "tamper-proof screws" described by earlier commenters, I easily removed them with pliers rather than a special screwdriver. Like others, I found that one of the two hinge posts on the plastic Door Latch Bracket had broken off. The broken bracket could be removed easily, but I had troub

Broken Door Latch
I removed the microwave from its built-in position by removing the faceplace. This was a simple four phillips screw removal. I then removed the microwave and the rear housing. This required the special TORX T20 security star screwdriver. Once the main microwave housing was removed the broken latch was apparent and easily accessible. The l

Another three minutes to replace the housing and Another five minutes to put the microwave back in place. This was an easy repair and saved me about $400 in replacement costs.I am very satisfied with the ease of determining the part I needed on the website, the cost of the part, the shipping was timely, and the overall experience by far surpassed my expectations. I am by no means a handy person but the instruction and detail associated with the purchase gave me the confidence and knowledge needed to complete the task.

Microwave door won't open
I pulled out the unit. Opened the back by using the special torx driver (bought at Lowe's). Found out that Door latch bracket is broke. Checked the computer and was prompted to the partselect.com. I compared the broken part to their diagram. Ordered the part on a Saturday, it came in on Tuesday. Stick the part to where it belong. Presto.

When i push the button it won't open. I heard a plastic piece break loose. It is mounted in a trim kit. What part do we need and how do we get it out of the trim kit to repair it?
For model number Architect Series ll KCMS2055SSS
Hello Lori, thank you for your question. It sounds like the Door Latch Bracket is the issue. Another customer had this same problem and gave us these instructions on replacing it.
To Fix this issue:
1) Buy a new BRCKT-LATCH
2) Remove the microwave enclosing. I had to use a special screwdriver, since the screws were security protected on my microwave. After removing the case, I opened the door by manually pressing the door latch upwards (please make sure that the microwave is not connected to the electric socket before removing the enclosing).
3) pull out the old LATCH from the microwave.
4) carefully insert the new LATCH. Try not to put too much pressure when trying to fit the latch, or else the ends may snap again!!
5) Close the door and try opening it by pressing the door opener. it should work now!!
I hope this helps!

One pivot post on the door latch bracket broke off and one of the 2 plastic ears that the bracket posts fits into on the control panel is broken at the bottom but still loosely attached. I see that I can order a new door latch bracket, is there a new part I can order that has the plastic ears the latch fits into, or could I just glue the broken ear back into place? Any particular glue you would recommend? I have the stainless steel m/w model.
For model number GT4175SPS0
Hi Matt, Thank you for the question. You can try super glue but it may only hold a short period of time. I suggest replacing the Control Panel, Part Number: PS11745273. Good luck with the repair!

Will the door latch keep the microwave from coming on
For model number MT4155SPQ-1
Hi James,
Thank you for your question. This part may prevent the microwave from turning on. If the microwave is not turning on, you will also need to check the door switches and the line fuse. We have included a link from our website that you may reference on how to check these parts. Once you have determined the part you need, please call customer service. We look forward to hearing from you!
