I started by using some superglue to reattach the broken mounting ring for the pin above the ice door flap. Wait a few minutes for the glue to set (I waited about 2 hours.) Ice Door broken letting warm air into Ice Maker system which kept freezing up.
I didn't have to buy a new Ice door kit. The part on the Refrig. door I needed I found out was unavailable. The door parts (Ice door parts and the asembly for the water unit) screws into that part. I found out that I would have to replace the whole refrig. door which was $900.00. I took every apart got me some pvc glue used it on the door
... Read more and bought the original screw online with some other assorted parts,Door switch, etc. and was able to repair in about an hour. Some of the parts are very fraigle so you have to be very careful or you will be buying some new replacement parts.The new nickel and dime parts are expensive. My Icemaker was leaking where the Ice was clumping together in the bin, and when I checked the unit was $125.00. I found a new one and replaced it for about half that price. I am now very happy! (a least until the next project.)
Unpluged the unit and removed the front trim ring. removed the old parts and installed the new parts. in reverse order. it took about 12 hour but the dispenser to work but seems to work fine now.

The spring on my ice dispenser on the door is weak and allows warm air to get into the ice cube drop causing the ice to melt ,jamming the dispenser. Can i replace the spring or the device that keeps the door shut tight

Hello Ralph, thank you for your question. If the door is in good condition, you should only have to replace the spring, which is Torsion Spring Part #: PS11750653. You can also get the spring in a kit with the door which is Part #: PS11723180. Good luck with your repair.

spring fell out is their a way to put it back in

Hi Anne, thank you for your inquiry. To replace the dispenser ice chute door spring in the freezer door, first pull out the drip tray. Now insert a putty knife behind the bottom of the dispenser front cover housing and push the front cover housing cover down while using the putty knife to pull the dispenser housing cover. Note the orientation of the dispenser panel switch wires, then disconnect them from the switch. Now remove the screw securing the light and switch housing. Depress the tabs to release the housing and use tape to hold it out of the way. Now depress the tabs on the top of the ice guide and lift the guide out. Detach and remove the delay mechanism. Next, release the ice chute door hinge pin from the right mount to remove the chute door assembly and remove the pin to release the old door spring, if still intact. Install the new ice chute door spring by positioning it between the posts on the door closer. Slide the hinge pin through the posts and spring from the right side. Now insert the left side of the pin into the hole in the dispenser housing. Pull the spring back and snap the right side into the slot. Slide the delay mechanism onto the door's closer arm and snap it into place on the housing. Reinstall the ice guide by inserting the lower tab into the dispenser arm, then rotate the guide up and snap in the upper tabs. Remove the tape and snap the light and switch housing into position. Secure it with the screw. Reconnect the wires to the appropriate terminals on the switch. Align the top of the dispenser front cover housing on the top edge of the dispenser housing then snap it into position. Replace the drip tray. We hope this helps.
