Worked as advertised
This series of ovens have serious issues with the self-clean function - particularly the bottom oven. This part came quickly and got our Whirlpool Gold Series double oven working (top oven and control board) without pulling the oven completely out of the cabinet. The commentary on the website is very helpful and convinced me this part is a good choice. To get the bottom oven working the oven had to be pulled from the cabinet and a thermistor had to be replaced. Two wires and two screws - not difficult once the rear panel is removed (12 screws). The old thermistor can be checked with an ohm meter - should read zero resistance when good.

Quick delivery- part worked as designed
Apparently the tripping of the thermal fuse is a common issue when the self-cleaning operation is performed. The replacement arrived on schedule and oven tested fine.

This was an OEM part that matched exactly.
This appliance is a Whirlpool built-in double electric oven. The unit failed during a self cleaning cycle of the lower oven which was locked closed and the whole appliance was inoperative. After replacing the thermal fuse, the upper oven began working normally and the lower oven unlocked but will not heat in either bake or broil mode. The thermal fuse was fairly easy to replace because it is located just behind the front control panel but I think the lower oven is going to have to come out to access the back and I will need some help with that. No matter what, the thermal fuse had to be replaced so no time or money lost.

saved a ton of $$ in service calls
I ordered expedited shipping, and the parts arrive when I expected them. Fairly straightforward repair, and my double oven is back in working order & I saved about $300 in service call fees. PSA: Do not use the self-cleaning function on your Whirlpool oven, it is literally designed to overheat & blow the thermal fuse & bake the gasket.

It appears i will need an internal fuse for this double oven. How do i access the control panel to replace this part?
For model number KEBS209BSP01
Hi Steve,
Thank you for your question. Before you begin the repair please shut the power off to the oven junction box. Then open the oven door so you can use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the screws securing the wall oven frame to the cabinet. Once you have completed this, you will need to slide the oven out of the wall by about 4 inches. You will need someone to help you do this. Then use the screw driver or a quarter inch nut driver to unthread the screws to release the 2 control panel mounting brackets. Then remove the screws securing the panel assembly. Lift the control panel assembly up to detach. Remove the both the ground and communication wires so you can fully remove the control panel from the oven. Use needle nose pliers to help disconnect the 2 wire connectors from the fuse. Release the studs from the mounting bracket, so you can remove the old fuse. Install the new fuse by snapping the mounting studs into the holes of the mounting brackets. Connect the wire connectors to the correct wire terminals. Reinstall the control panel by first connecting the communication wire to the user interface board and the grounding wire to the grounding tab. Then realign the control panel onto the frame and secure it with the screws. Realign the mounting brackets and secure them with the screws. Push the wall oven back into the cabinet. Make sure the side trim pieces are in place and secure it to the cabinet with the screws. With the repair completed, you can now turn the power back on to the oven and everything should not work for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

We need to change the fuse cuz the oven electronics just died. This has happened before, but this time it went out after clean cycle so the bottom oven door is locked. How do we unscrew the unit from the wall? I think we need to get access from opening the door

I have a whirlpool wall oven that has blown the thermal fuse similar to the one above (encased in a clear rubber casing with wire connector leads at each end). The parts schematic doesn’t show this part, what should I do?
For model number Ibs550pww00
Hi Don, thank you for a very interesting question. According to our research, the thermal fuse that fits your model is part number PS11747249. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We have attached a relevant video to help you with the process. We hope this information helps!
