Will not defrost , freezer motor noise . Ice build up in freezer . Then top frig won’t cool, when this happens. Manual defrost , 4 days . All works again 3-4 weeks at the most . Is there a computer part that tells it to defrost?
For model number WRF560SEYM01
Hi Gilbert,
Thank you for your question. If there is ice buildup in the refrigerator, there could be a clogged drain. Food or other particles, can become trapped in the drain and as the the freezer defrosts, and cools ice can build up. You will need to check the drain for obstructions. The issue may be with the electronic control board, you will need to test it with a multimeter to verify if it is working correctly. You will also need to check the thermistor and the defrost heater. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator with a problem. I had power surges and when they finally quit, my refrigerator is not working. It is a model WRF560seyw04. The bottom freezer works (kind of). It gets cold enough to drop ice but the ice is wet. The refrigerator does not get cold at all. I ran the 17 steps for the self diagnosis and everything seems to pass. Took the back off and found that the Compressor Fan and the Evaporator fan are not working. I am leaning towards the Control Board but would like a 2nd opinion that is a lot more knowledgeable than I am. If the Control Board, is the correct PN: W11035836?

Hi Raymond, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description you have provided, the issue is most probably with the main control board. It manages the functions of the refrigerator such as cooling and defrost times. The main control board, part number PS11773172, you have mentioned, is the correct part number for your model. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Freezer won’t get down to temperature and fridge struggles to stay below 40,
Both fans are working, compressor runs but doesn’t shut off.
Evaporator coils where clear but the right side next to the coils are a block of ice. I did defrost the ice but it does the same thing, doesn’t get below 10 degrees. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Patrick, thank you for the detailed info. A faulty defrost system could be causing the ice to build up on the evaporator coils, which in turn affects the cooling performance. You will need to replace the defrost heater part number PS11754723. We hope this helps.
Heard freezer motor noise. Discovered some frost buildup in the back of the freezer. Freezer temp dropped, fridge temp dropped. Found out there was only some ice buildup on the top of the evaporator the bottom was clear. Manually defrosted and currently works. Was told by a technician that this is a temporary solution and that I would need a new controller. Is this the case? If so which controller do I need? Part #W11082844 or Part# W11035836.

Hello Kevin, thank you for your question. According to our research, if there is frost buildup in the refrigerator, there could be a clogged drain. Food or other particles can become trapped in the drain and as the freezer defrosts and cools, frost can build up. You will need to check the drain for obstructions. If this is not the issue, you may need to replace the electronic control board, part number PS11773172, to fix the issue. We hope that helps!
