Microwave had a dead short when plugged in......was looked at by an "electrician" who could not figure out what to do..........Based on my prior experience I thought I'd try replacing the interlock mechanism.......Was surprised to see different part #'s for the upper and lower interlocks, so I ordered both..........After gaining access it appeared that the lower switch was bad because the most visible micro switch did not appear to close completely........I removed the mechanism and replaced it by what I thought was the correct lower one.......again a dead short when plugged in..........Did not think an interlock could cause a dead short..........I was about to give up but, since the parts were inexpensive, I decided to just go for it and replace both........Upon removing the upper mechanism, I found that the micro switch on the poorly visible side was grey in color, not black as the others were, and, it did not "click" when manually activated........This grey color switch was the only way to identify which mechanism was the top and the bottom........I found that I put the wrong "new" mechanism on the bottom.........Replaced both interlocks in the correct positions and now the microwave works Great.........Hope my rookie appliance repair mistakes and assumptions will help.......
