Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This gear case is for washers. The Gear case drives the agitator and spins the basket in the washer. Unplug the washer before installing this part. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Arrived in just a couple days
Exact replacement, followed install video which was big help. A real bear to 'slip' unit into tub it's tight fit but doesn't leak. Unfortunately, it didn't solve the high pitch squeal at the start of the spin cycle as it did for others. I'll likely be back for different parts once I figure out what's making the noise. Maybe the 'splutch' is next, and that one is trivial to replace!

Fixed my noisy washing machine!
Bearings were bad in my gear case and my washer was very noisy during the spin cycle. Removing the old gear case was a job and then some, especially trying to separate the shaft from the tub and drive collar, which were seized on pretty good from years of use. Once that was finally apart, it only took about 20-30 minutes to put everything back together. Definitely a doable DIY project. Works like new again!

Easy repair - Could possibly be a part failure
The part arrived in great condition. This morning there was a squeaking sound coming the apart during two separate loads of cloths. The squeak happens during the agitate cycle and not during the spin cycle. Will most check it out this weekend if the noise persists.

Replacing the gear case and the collar is fused to the tub . Probably due to rust. Any suggestions on how to get it to release or do I need to cut the tub and replace. Thanks
For model number NTW4516FW1
Hello Susan, thank you for your inquiry. Please use an anti-rust spray to remove rust from the rusted parts. Apply the anti-rust spray on the rusted portion and wait for some time. Hopefully, it will remove rust from the gearcase. Please watch the attached video for installation instructions. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

I so need some help!!! My Whirlpool Washer #WTW4616FW1 on last spin cycle makes this sound like a jet engine taking off; really quiet to super loud & then a hint of rubber smell. I thought it was the bearings until lastnight i took my entire washer apart and ran into not being able to get access to the bearings due to the gear box being all welded closed. I dont know what my next steps are that would diagnose my washers problem to get it back to working. Taking the entire washer apart has left me with hearing a grinding noise from the permanently attatched drive shaft when i twist it by hand. So im guessing i need a new gear box & a drive belt but i seen no damage to the belt but only seen some sand in the ridges of the belt? Please please help me, i have all my parts labeled in detail since this was my first time taking a washer entirely apart. But what are my next steps that you recommend for me?
For model number WTW4616FW1
Hello Sarah, thank you for getting in touch. If the drive belt of your model is not damaged, then we would suggest checking the transmission, part number PS16220913, to solve the problem. A faulty transmission can most probably cause this issue. Glad to be of help!

my washer jumps around when it starts spinning, I replaced the shocks, didn't fix it, now I am thinking it might be the gear case bearings or gear case is worn out. Thanks
For model number Amana NTW4630YQ0
Hello Jeff, thank you for the question. As you mentioned that the suspension rod kit did not fix your problem, the issue is most probably with the washer gearcase, part number PS16220913. Replacing this part may fix your issue. Glad to be of assistance!
