Does the main board in my freezer have anything to do with turning the led light, inside of freezer, on or off? I know there is a magnet switch for the light also. This freezer is 15 months old only and light quit working, the freezer iced up once, and the freezer quit cooling approx 4 times. Just wondering if main board could be bad. Thanks

Hello Jon, thank you for your question. Have you tried replacing the light bulb? Part number PS12731499. When your freezer wasn't cooling, did you do anything to fix it or did it just start working again? There are a few things that could cause these symptoms. Is your freezer over packed? Air needs to be able circulate freely to keep food frozen. It could also be that your condenser coils need to be cleaned. They need to be cleaned 1-2 times per year. Freezer frost occurs when moisture comes into contact with the evaporator coils inside your freezer and then freezes. The most common reason for frost buildup is a damaged or worn-out door seal: Part number PS16218638. If you have changed the bulb, checked the airflow and the door gasket, it could be your control board part number PS16555732. We hope this helps.

Should the compressor and condenser fan be running when the door is opened or when the defrost cycle is on?
For model number FFFH20F3VW0
PartSelect logo
Hello Ed, thank you for reaching out. The compressor and condenser fan should not be running when the defrost cycle is on. They may run when the door is opened. The defrost cycle requires the compressor to shut off and the evaporator fan to stop while a heating element melts ice from the evaporator coils. You will need to replace the main control board, part number PS16555732, to fix the issue. We hope this helps.

The freezer runs continuously. Temperature is below minus 20 Celsius, doesn't matter where I turn the thermostat.

Hi Roy, Thank you for your question. If the freezer is too cold, try adjusting the temperature. When adjusting the temperature, allow 24 hours for the adjustment to take place. If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to replace the main electronic control board, part number PS16555732. We hope this helps!

GREEN LIGHT IS CONSTALY FLASHING, FREZZER IS NO LONGER GETTING COLD, WONDERING IF THE MAIN BOARD HAS GONE BAD.
For model number FFFV20F2VW0
PartSelect logo
Hello Darren, thank you for reaching out. If the temperature inside the cabinet exceeds 23°F or -5°C, the green light will flash and give a "high temperature alert". We suggest that you check the condenser, thermostat, compressor, gasket, and control board as these could be the culprit. If you require assistance to place an order, please contact customer service. We hope that helps!

My freezer evaporator is completely freezing over with a block of ice. The condenser fan / compressor will not shut off unless freezer is unplugged. Will a new control board repair?
For model number Fffu20f2vw

Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. If the coils are icing over, there may be too much humidity getting inside the refrigerator. This is caused if the door is left open too long or if the door is not sealing correctly. Check the gasket to see if it is sealing. If it is not sealing correctly, you will need to replace it. If this is not the issue, you will need to check the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat and the main control board. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!
