Is the cover resin ps2321139 the wave guide cover ? My microwave has started making an arcing sound when i warm plates. The diagnostic chart says i should clean or replace the wave guide cover.

Behind the original wave guide cover the area has been burned by sprakling. Is it ok to wipe and clean the darkened area off and then install the new one?

What causes a hole to burn in a wave guide cover? Is it save to use?

Hi Mark, thank you for your question. The appliance should not be used without the wave guide cover. There are multiple reasons that this may happen. If you put anything metal inside the appliance, if the inside of the appliance was dirty, or if there is sparking happening on the inside of your appliance. You would have to determine which one it is. Be very careful when doing any repairs on a microwave. You will have to make sure the appliance is unplugged and that you safely discharge the capacitor as you can be electrocuted. Good luck with your repair.

This cover is not fitting tightly because of a plastic item i put in the microwave (and shouldn't have!), can i still use the microwave while awaiting for a new cover?
