Should have done this a looooooong time ago!!
My good old faithful dishwasher is back at it, lol!! Getting the belt on was a challenge at first. I stretched it out a bit (until it was almost the size of the old belt) using arm & leg power (sit in the floor with one leg straight in front of you. Put the belt at the middle of your foot & give it a few slow pulls). Put the belt on the small wheel first & work it around the big wheel- your fingers will thank you!! Also- after the new belt is on, keep in mind the lube is waterproof so you won’t be able to wash it off your hands after you finish greasing up the belt.
Seriously, there’s no reason to pay a service tech to do this. Quick & easy!!

Easy repair although getting the belt on took a little effort.
The dishwasher is working well once again. The part did take 4 working days to arrive although the delivery method I selected said that average delivery time was 1.8 working days.

Dishwasher belt
Belt was unusable, too short and stiff. When put around one pulley it would not stretch to the other one.

Broken belt
This was a pain to change due to very limited access. Also belt had very little stretch. Had to really put some thought in it before attempting.

Broken dishwasher belt
It was my first dishwasher belt and it was much tighter than I thought it was going to be. I was worried I was going to break it putting it on so I was a bit stumped, but finally got it on and its good as new.

Removed two panels on front bottom to gain access to motor and pump pulley. Looped belt around motor pulley and partially looped belt on larger pump pulley then turned pump pulley together with the belt until belt was fully installed., then coated belt with silicone grease to lubricate it.. very simple procedure.

Remove bottom cover. Put the belt on the large pulley and stretch it about 5 times to make it larger. Remove the belt from the large pulley and put it on the small pulley at the motor. Detergent cup would not dispense/open
It is realatively simple to replace the dispenser cup. Revove the 4 screws on the inside edge of the door (Not the upper screws for the upper control panel). The front cover will come away exposing the dispenser cup. Using a 1/4 nut driver remove the 6 (I think) screws after unplugging the electrical connector. (Be sure & replac

After removing the cover to the motor assembly, I determined that the problem was that the old drive belt had broken. It probably was more than 20 years old. I originally thought that the size was no longer available because the old belt had stretched about two inches, but, after reading the repair stories on the PartsSelect Website, I

After applying the silicon grease, the dishwasher worked as good as new. The most difficult aspect of the job was having to work in such a small space. The most time-consuming part of the job was removing and then replacing the access cover, but the job overall was quite easy.

We purchased clear belt 6-9021150 (order 7489976) and installed the new belt with grease on 5/12/15. The new belt and grease solved the problem fine. It has now begun to squeal when the washer starts to drain. Is it possible to get new silicone grease? Or, is it time to order a new belt kit that comes with the grease? (the belt still seems to be working.) (the belt has been installed for 3 years.) thank you kindly..
For model number WU502
Hi Donald,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately it looks like the grease only comes with the belt. So it looks like you would have to replace the clear belt kit here. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Dishwasher- It washed, drained then rinsed and would not drain. It acted like it got to the faucet to drain and it spit a little water out and that was it! Like it was stopped up at the white piece that hooks to the faucet. We ordered a fill/drain assembly, did we get the right part, do you think?
For model number WC202
Hi Dana,
Thank you for the great question. The problem sounds like the drain impeller, the drain impeller pushes water through the drain hose in order to drain. Unfortunately the impeller is no longer available but it will be a good idea to check the impeller before installing the hose you ordered. If there is damage to the impeller you will know the drain and fill hose are fine and you can return the uninstalled parts back for a refund if you wish.
Hope this helps!
