How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Perfect fit
Part arrived promptly. I laid it out on the floor for one night, and the next day, I removed the old, cracked, worn gasket. The new gasket went on very easily and fit perfectly.

Not easy to work with.
Delivery was quick. The part was very tangled and the instructions on how to untangle were overwhelming that took more time than needed. Uñtimately, the part did not work and a new refrigerator was bought. I tend to stay away hotpoint appliances for my rental units. They break down too easily.

"Not so easy" repair
The gasket had several "kinks" in places -- on both the long and short sides.
Instead of immersing the gasket in hot, then cold tap water, as per the printed
instructions on the shipping container, I discovered a helpful "how-to"
video on YouTube, which suggested the application of warm/hot air from a
hair dryer, to help smooth out the kinks.
After several minutes of careful passes with the hair dryer, the gasket fit snugly
into place.

I would like instructions for replacing the gasket door on my refrigerator.
For model number GTS17JBWBRWW
Hi Frances,
Thank you for your inquiry. You do not have to remove the door to install the gasket. When installing your gasket, have a putty knife handy and remove the items from the door so they are not in the way. Use the putty knife to remove the existing gasket from the door and pull firmly around the door, but be careful not to damage the plastic inner liner of the door especially around the corners. Once removed use the putty knife to go around the door to clean out any excess styrofoam that may have come out and clean the liner on the bottom. Make sure the channel is clear. If the new gasket has any kinks in it you may soak in it warm water or place it in the dryer on a low setting to remove them. The new gasket has a rigid strip on the back that goes into the channel. It is important to make sure that the strip is placed fully in the channel and that the vinyl edge lays flat against the outer steel door panel. Drape the gasket over the door and start in one corner. Insert the strip fully into the channel in the the corner section and pull until it is square with the door. Then work it in around the door and make sure it is in nice and tight. It may be a bit difficult around the bottom of the door to insert it where there is no much room to work with. Once complete make sure it is in nice and tight. When you close the door there may be some areas that cause the door to bulge out. If this happens, use some adhesive tape to tape the door shut and this should help even those bulges out, then remove the tape. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
