Just like a new refrigerator
I was surprised the refrigerator gasket arrived in excellent condition in even less than 24 hours. The repairman took the gasket from the box, and after carefully heating the folded parts, he was able to smoothly adjust the gasket onto the refrigerator door. The refrigerator is running better than when I bought it and no longer makes a lot of noises. I’m not sure I could have done it myself. I think it helps that I cleaned dust from around and under the refrigerator before the gasket was replaced. Technical staff were helpful and reassuring when I called to ask questions before the repairman came out.

gasket was not easily fitted
I did not do the repair but observed a friend trying to replace gasket in refrigerator. It was a very difficult procedure. He works as a handyman so he knew what he was doing and had to manually fit gasket with some help with a hammer. Gasket did not go in easy and had to be forced to fit until job completed/

The food door gasket was not doing its función properly.
Well, when I opened the package the gasket was bended in half so I opened it and put it first on the floor and after some minutes I put it on the refrigerator side. Then I took a screwdriver and easily removed the old gasket, cleaned the the channel where the new gasket had to seat or be inserted. Then I took the new gasket and put
... Read moreit on place and begining on the top right corner I began to insert the gasket into the channel from the right to the left. Double check to see if was ok I continued on both sides from top to the bottom, one by one. When I reached the bottom I began from the left to the right inserting the gasket into the channel. To complete the installation at the bottom I had to pull the gasket a little to properly reach the corner and I finished To make sure the gasket was on place I hit the gasket with my bare hand all around and I was done. It was very easy, I just followed the instructions given by the manufacturer

Old door gasket torn/problematic; moisture in fridge
Referenced a couple of videos first, held up the new gasket to ensure fit, then carefully pulled the old gasket off by hand. Wiped down the ridges/edges of the door, then installed new gasket first on opposite corners then along all sides. Simply pressed in to the door ridges/bracket. Used a putty knife to ensure the edge of gasket was no

How do I change the seal on the door?
For model number GTH18XCT2RWW
Hi Cathy,
Thank you for the question, The door gasket is held into a retainer channel on the door. First Soak the new gasket in warm water to make it more flexible and to remove any bends in the gasket from being packed in the box.Next pull the old gasket out of the channel, the using the back of a plastic putty knife or a similar object such as a spoon that isn't sharp to push the barbed edge of the gasket into the retaining channel. Should be an easy repair but time consuming. Some customers found it easier to remove the door from the appliance.
Good luck with the repair!
