Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This part is the replacement light bulb for your microwave. This bulb is 125 volts and 25 watts. It should come on automatically when you open your microwave door, or if the microwave is running. If your light bulb is burnt out, it will not be able to do this, and will need to be replaced. Before you change the bulb, be sure to check that the light socket still works, as it may need to be replaced as well. Remember to disconnect the microwave from the power source before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Light didn't work
I assumed light was burned out and got a replacement bulb. Removed back and side screws with slight difficulity. Was not able to remove cover. The top front would not loosen. I tried every trick in my 80 year repertoire. I gave up and put it back together. I emailed PartSelect last week explaining the problem. So far no
... Read more reply. I am sure I have the right model # and others seem to have little trouble removing the cover. I paid $85 + tax for the oven and it has worked well for about 8(?) years. From what I read here, I figured I could handle the bulb replacement. I'm just out the cost of the bulb and shipping and the oven still works. It would have been nice to have the light work again but we will just wait until it quits working and buy another inexpensive unit.

Replacing burnt out bulb on microwave
To remove the outer cover of the microwave you have to unscrew 7 or 8 Phillips screws but most of them have "secure" type heads, so you need a driver with a hole in the middle, to fit over the pin on the screw head. I had one of those already, so it wasn't a problem. The metal cover is slid between rubberized strips on the front face of t
... Read morehe enclosure and needs to be lifted and tugged out quite firmly in order to release it. Once the cover was removed, the bulb can be seen attached to the main frame of the microwave by a soft metal lug that can be bent back by hand to release the bulb and its integrated holder. The wiring harness simply pulls off of the bulb prongs and there you have the charred remains of the original bulb! I tried every appliance store and hardware store in Bismarck, but nobody had this part. When I typed in the serial number on the bulb, Partselect's site came up with exactly what I needed. Replacement was a simple reversal of the process, making sure not to over-tighten the sheet metal screws on the cabinet. Voila! We have light beams again. Thanks Partselect.

Replace interior bulb
Pretty simple but required buying a set of security bits (#68549) from Harbor Freight for $7.00 to remove the outer cover of my GE JES2051SNSS microwave. Microwave light bulb burned out
None of the manuals or schematic diagrams gave a clue as to where the damn bulb was and messing around in the guts of a microwave is not for the faint of heart. Once I found it the rest was easy -- take out the old bulb and put in the new one. Be careful reassembling the case -- microwave leakage is not good.

The bulb is burned out. Does the cover come off fairly easy and what is the best way to accomplish that. I assume that once the cover is removed the old bulb pops out and new bulb inserted. No other aspects that would complicate the process?

Is there a way to NOT have the light go on when the door is open? I want to paint a spot on the door and allow it to dry overnight without having the light remain on all night. If this is not possible, I suppose I will close the door and hope the paint dries overnight. The paint is made to be used on the cavity of the microwave. Thank you. AL
For model number JEB1860DM1WW
Hello Al, Thank you for your inquiry. The simplest way to keep the light from coming on is to pull the bulb out. You would need to remove the microwave cover, locate the bulb, remove it and then replace the bulb in the morning and replace the cover. We hope this helps.
