Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
Enhance your appliance's functionality with the GE air damper and thermistor assembly, designed for optimal compatibility with GE refrigerators. This high-quality component channels and modulates the cold airflow between the freezer and refrigerator compartments, promoting a balanced and consistent cold environment for your foods. Prioritize safety by storing any food that might deteriorate whilst the power is turned off prior to installing this unit. A crucial feature of this air damper assembly is the DAMPER GASKET ASSY, integral to enhancing the overall efficiency and performance of your refrigerator. Discover the difference a genuine GE component can make to the proper function and lifespan of your appliance.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Not new OEM part when recieved like stated. is was a used part.
The replacement parts fixed my issue. The only issue I did have was the damper cover I bought also looked like it was a used part but said brand new OEM. It was scratched up and deffnetly not brand new. Not worth the time to go back and forth and make phone calls about a $20 part. It works the way it should so thats my main concern. Othere then that everytime iv ordered parts they have worked well.

My freezer is working fine but no cold air is getting into the fresh food section. The damper and gasket seems to be working fine. Part number wr09x10050. I removed the cover over it and it is open but there is no air flow blowing cold air from the freezer section into the fresh food section. Further inspection revealed there is no fan anywhere to cause this air flow. How do i get the freezer cold air to blow into the fresh food section?
For model number HSS25IFMDWW
Hi Tom, Thank you for the question. There is a fan at the back of the freezer that circulates the cold air, Part Number: PS304658. I suggest locating this fan to see if it is running. Hope this helps!

My freezer compartment is working fine but fridge is not getting cold someone gave me this fridge and it looks to be missing a vent of some sort in upper left hand corner is that the problem ?
For model number GSS25WGPABB
Hi Walvin,
Thank you for your question. If that part is missing it would actually make more sense if your fridge side was getting too cold, as that damper helps to regulate how much cold air gets into the fridge side. I would suggest also taking a look at your evaporator fan motor as well. That is the part that blows the cold air into your appliance. You may also just want to check your fridge thermistor. Make sure it is working and reading the right temperatures inside of the fridge. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi. We just installed a new damper module in our GE refrigerator (GSS22SGRE SS) and the damper still doesn't open. Is there a way to test the power going to it? Is there some other explanation for why a brand new damper wouldn't open? Or a specific condition when we should expect it to be open? Thank you.
For model number GSS22SGRESS
Hi Sheena,
Thank you for your question. The air damper, baffle or diffuser is the device that balances the air flow from the evaporator fan housing. This normally is a mechanically controlled baffle or flapper that controls the amount of cold air entering the fresh food compartment. If the baffle is damaged or the linkage to the control knob is damaged, then you may not have enough cold air entering the fresh food compartment resulting in higher than normal temperatures. Disconnect your refrigerator from the power source and open your refrigerator door to locate the damper or baffle. It will be found where the cold air enters the fresh food compartment. The housing that the baffle or damper is encased in is often made of plastic with a Styrofoam lining and may have a foam seal to prevent air leakage. Care should be used when inspecting the housing to avoid damage to the seal or the Styrofoam. Some refrigerator models use a temperature sensing bulb attached to this control that will automatically adjust the control for changes in the interior temperature. Make sure that the sensing bulb is in the correct position and is not damaged. Attempt to operate the control knob to verify that the linkage is intact and that it moves freely. If the damper/baffle is stuck in the closed or nearly closed position or does not move freely, then you need a replacement air inlet damper or baffle. If you ordered the part through us and it is defective, please call our customer service line and anyone will be happy to assist you. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

I've had a number of problems. First the compressor would not come on. Ran diagnosis test and compressor checked good so i replaced the start and overload relays. Still didn't come on. Replaced the main circuit board. Compressor started working. I also replaced the freezer defrost thermostat and the freezer thermister that attaches to the top of evaporator coil. Freezer a began working fine, but i could not get air from freezer compartment to fresh food compartment. Replaced damper/thermister assy. Damper door would not open. Replaced temperature control assy. Including the circuit board. Finally realized that i was getting no air flow because the evaporator cover was still off. Re-installed evaporator cover and began to get good air flow through the damper valve which opened. However the fresh food compartment still wasn't cooling. The evaporator fan runs although there is a chip off of one of the fan blades. Motor runs quietly, no whine or squeeking, but once again there is no air coming through the damper valve even when the damper door is open. I've spent close to $400 and i hate to quit now but i'm at my wits end. There must be something fairly simple that i'm missing. You have any advice.

Hi John,
Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like you have tried everything. The only other part I can think of to check is the capacitor. If this does not work you may need to have to consult with a technician. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My freezer side is working properly, but the fridge side is warm (50 degrees). I took the shroud off the damper and it was in the closed position. Does this door open and shut to allow cold air from the freezer into the fridge compartment until it reaches a certain temp. In the fridge compartment. How can I test this component and could this be my problem.
For model number ESH25XGPACC
Hi Danny,
Thank you for your question. Yes, that is exactly what this particular part does. It does sound like this could be your issue or maybe even the thermostat inside of your fridge. You should be able to test the part continuity with a multi meter to make sure that it is working correctly. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

How do I test the damper door and control. It seems to be out of sinc, closing while the cold air is still blowing. I can open it by hand but it doesn't stay.
For model number GSL25JFPEBS
Hello Eddy, Thank you for the question. You will need to test the sensor attached to the damper and check to see if it has continuity. We hope this helps!

Fridge side is too warm and Freezer side is cold (< 30 deg F) only near the bottom. I can see the damper works but hear no fan. How do I find if the fan motor is dead or temp sensing is not working?
Thanks for any clues
For model number GSS22JFPHWW
Hello Tom, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend checking the evaporator fan motor, part number PS1019114. Test the evaporator fan motor using a multimeter. Check to see if there is anything blocking a fan blade. If there is no obstruction, test the 2 wires that travel from the coil on the motor for resistance. If these tests indicate that the evaporator fan motor is at fault, it must be replaced. Good luck with the repair!
