Dryer heat was low and intermittent
Unplug dryer. Removed the screws on the right hand hinge, lift and remove the door, remove the screws in the left-hand side, slide top of front cover out and lift off of metal tabs and set aside. Used a small Shop-Vac to clear any dust or lint from the appliance housing. Un-clipped quick disconnect connectors from the igniter, flame senso
... Read morer and coils. Loosened but did not remove screw holding igniter slid igniter coil off following slot in igniter coil. Unscrewed top bracket screw to flame sensor, slid other end out of tab in slot, bracket must be slightly bent to remove old and insert new. Unscrewed top brackets to coil. Warning assembly screws were installed extremely tight had to break them free using small vice grips so phillips heads would not strip, enough clearance to gain purchase on the sides of the screws head with small vice grips. Place new coils into slots and screwed brace back into place. slid new igniter coil onto the existing screw, inserted metal tab into assembly for heat sensor, new part came with replacement bracket. tightened all screws. reconnected quick connectors to all 3 parts. reversed process of cover disassembly to reassemble and reinstall door. plugged dryer back in. fix successful consistent heat restored.

... Read morene has three, replace them in correct positions and reattach cover. One screw holds igniter in place, remove and unplug old one, carefully install new one so not to damage it. Thermostat has one screw holding it in, remove and unplug four wires, remember to plug each wire into new thermostat before removing the next one so you don't wire it incorrectly. Reinstall front panel of dryer and you're done.
After locating the two screws (feel along the bottom of the front door panel) that holds the front panel, and figuring out how to take off the front panel ( lift up until the two clips connecting to the top panel comes loose), the rest of the repair was easy. Just a socket wrench to unscrew the igniter and disengage the wiring.

Dryer (gas model) stopped heating, still turned drum
Accessed the front of the dryer cab by removing 4 screws (2 cover, 2 hinge) which also allowed the door to be removed. The front panel pivots at the bottom, towards the front. I then ordered a new FLAT STYLE IGNITER ( which I discovered was broken off ) and a RADIANT FLAME SENSOR and these parts FIXED THE PROBLEM. Parts cost about $90 (Dec. 2016) including shipping.
Simple I had my husband do it. This dryer must be 30 plus years old, couldn't bear to part with the Maytag.

Igniter didn't heat
Replace the igniter. Access thru small door in front of dryer. Loosen screw securing igniter, slide igniter toward back of dryer to free it from screw, disconnect wiring at plastic connector and remove unit from dryer. Reverse for installation.

no heat in commercial Maytag gas dryer
i replaced the two coils and the flay style igniter ( broke the igniter during install, its VERY brittle) so i have to get another one. Otherwise easy fixing
My Maytag gas dryer model MDG7600AWW is about 12 years old. Everything else works fine except it takes 4-5 drying cycles instead of 1 to completely dry my clothes properly. The flat igniter was simply cracked but not broken so it only worked some times. My gas dryer igniter and the 2 ignition coils work hand in hand so I replaced all 3
... Read moreparts. The ignition coils provide a solid and consistent power supply to the igniter for proper burner tube function. Disconnect power cord from wall outlet. Shut off gas supply by turning the wall gas valve off. Remove 2 small philips screws to detach front panel door from dryer frame. Remove 2 additional philips screws on left front side panel inner door frame. Gently pull front dryer panel off beginning at top and put it aside. Igniter and the 2 ignition coils are plainly visible and easily accessible at bottom right corner of dryer. Igniter is attached to the burner tube and facing into the heater housing assembly. The 2 ignition coils are attached just above the gas valve on the rear of the burner tube. The ignition coils are simply attached to the rear of the heater tube with one bracket using 2 small philips screws. First, disconnect igniter plug wire harness. Next, I recommend using a small open end applicable size wrench (5/16 perhaps) to remove attaching igniter screw. A small 1/4 ratchet with applicable socket size may also be used. Handle the igniter only from the white ceramic part when installing. You don't have to completely remove the igniter screw from the burner tube. The igniter has a white ceramic horse shoe shape slot in which the attaching screw goes through for tightening to the burner tube. Just unscrew generously for removal and replacement of the igniter. Do NOT over tighten igniter screw as the white ceramic plate may break from over torqing. Reconnect igniter wire plug harness. The igniter part I used was PartSelect Number PS373025. Next, remove the ignition coil bracket by unscrewing the 2 small philips screws from rear of the heater tube frame. Remove only 1 ignition coil at a time by removing the wire plug harness and simply lifting upward. One coil will have 2 prongs while the other has 3 prongs so you can't go wrong when reconnecting the wire plug harnesses. I used the PartSelect 'M' Series New Style Coil Kit (2 coils included)which was PartSelect Number PS334310. Replace the front dryer panel back. Attach the front door to the panel and dryer frame using the 2 philips screws. Attach the 2 left side inner door front panel philips screws to dryer frame. Turn on the wall gas valve. Reconnect power cord to wall outlet.

Dryer does not heat. Igniter does not glow. Igniter resistance measures 84 ohms. Input voltage to igniter measures 27v. Don't see any detailed instructions for further diagnosis.

Hi Greg, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the 'M' Series Coils, PartSelect Number PS334310.The 2-prong coil read 1,000-1,300 ohms. The 3-prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1 and 2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1 and 3. Hope this helps!

We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: M series new style coil kit, cycling or internal bias thermostat, high limit thermostat, flame sensor, and thermal fuse. Good morning. The directions on the previous page i was on said for me to, using a Philips screwdriver, take the two bottom Philips' screws off the front panel and check the igniter. Where on earth are the two bottom screws located on the front panel so i can check the igniter? Thanks.

My gas dryer will not dry. The timer does not advance but will occasionally work correctly. Today, I can smell gas coming out of the exhaust vent outside. Currently, the ignitor glows but does not produce a flame. I have replaced the "M" series coils, and the multitemp gas thermostat, but the dryer still does not work properly. Please help me figure this out and make a suggestion to what I should try next?

Thanks for your question. This could be due to the gas valve or the igniter. You will want a multimeter to test the parts, and replace any that do not show electrical continuity.

Thank you for your question. If the dryer is not igniting, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the coils, the igniter kit, the radiant flame sensor, the the internal bias thermostat, the thermal cut-off fuse kit and the disposable thermal fuse. I hope this helps. Hello William, thank you for your question. We would recommend testing the Thermostat, Internal-Bias
Part Number: WP3387134 and 'M' Series New Style Coil Kit Part Number: 279834. To test the coils the coils can be tested using a multi-meter tool. The 2-prong coil read 1,000-1,300 ohms. The 3-prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1 and 2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1 and 3. To test the thermostat with a multimeter you can test the two large terminals on the thermostat, they should read closed for continuity and the two small ones should show an ohms resistance value.
