This upper drive shaft adapter, also known as a shaft socket, is a plastic component that connects the driveshaft assembly to other parts of your power tool, like the cutting head. It is usually located at the top end of the driveshaft, near the working end of the tool. Its purpose is to transfer power from the engine to enable cutting. If the adapter is broken, you may experience shaking, power loss, or strange noises. If you see visible cracks or damage, it needs to be replaced. To remove the existing adapter, use pliers to pull out the cone-shaped piece, and detach the internal adapter by screwing an 8mm hex bolt into it and then pulling it out. This OEM-sourced adapter set is sold individually.

Chain barley spins
For model number Ppt-230
Hi Dan, Thank you for your question. There are a few things that you will want to check. Open up your tool and make sure the chain as not slipped off. You may also have to inspect your tool to see if the sprocket underneath the bar cover is stripped or if your clutch is worn down. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
