At the floor of your electric oven is the bake element. This partially open-style element comes with push-on terminals. The bake element will likely provide most of the heat for baking. Therefore, if the oven is not heating properly, or if food is burnt on top and undercooked below, your bake element may be at fault. If you can see that the element has been separated or blistered, you should replace the part immediately. If there is no visible damage, turn the oven on and check to see if the element heats evenly. If the element is not heating evenly, or if it is not heating at all, use a multi-meter to test for electrical continuity to see if the element needs replacing.

Bake element cracked on its own
Flipped the breaker. Removed shelf, Find the right size nut socket, unscrew the two screws, pull the element out a little bit, disconnect the wires (on pretty tight), pull out element, clean out any mess in the oven, compare element with new one to make sure its the same size and such, connect wires to new element, replace screws, flip breaker back, turn on for a few minutes to make sure it works. The metallic clip, or also known as a broil element support, is for a oven element on a range. This part holds the broil element in place on top of the oven. If your support clip is broken then this replacement should be the solution. The tools needed for this project are slip joint pliers. For safety precautions, make sure to unplug your range from the power source, or shut off the house circuit breaker before starting this project. Refer to the installation instructions for best results and accuracy.

broiling element had burned through, req. its replacement
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I also removed a screw that held one end of a support bracket. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Reversing these steps, I finished the element's replacement.

I had noticed that the former element was sagging at the front end. I installed the additional clips (not original) on each forward end of the element for additional support. Read more...

Burned out Broiler Element Needed Replacing
I used a socket set to remove broiler element. It was stiff after so many years, but no problem. All was going well until I pulled too hard on the old element(I'd recommend jiggling if stuck, not yanking) & 1 of the 2 connectors pulled loose & fell behind the back. After my initial panic, I summoned my courage, unscrewed the coverings in the upper back of the stove, found the lost connection, pushed the new element ends through the holes from inside the oven (easiest way to hook it up at this point), plugged it in from the back, pushed it back thru into place inside the oven, reattached everything (front & back), & it worked PERFECTLY! First, I used the PatrSelect website, which has great prices, and has helpful diagrams. Once I had all the parts, I worked with my wife to turn off the power at our home junction box. Next, I lifted off the cover over the control area of this range. I removed four nuts to lift out the panel that holds the four controls and the fan switch. I removed the wires from the broken controls, removed the two screws holding each control in place, then screwed the new ones in place. I would recommend trimming the posts on the controls to the correct size before screwing them in place, because it is easier to grip them and not bend them when they are not mounted. I reconnected the wires and replaced the panel. For the "receptacle", I followed the instructions provided regarding cutting the wire and placing the wire nut and heat shrink tubing. old burners gone bad
tries brazing ends back onto posts...it did work but still not as good as I wanted. Bit the bullet for 100.00 and bought 2 new burners and drip pans. Only regret was not buying the two smaller burners with pans. Smaller ones still work but the new ones work like brand new and an added benefit is they make the stove look brand new!! Broiler element would not work/heat up
First I turned the power off at the breaker box. Then I removed the two screws at the rear of the oven and un-secured the three clips(top of stove) that all hold the element in place. Carefully I pulled the element out of the back of the stove to expose and pull out the electrical wires and their connectors. At this point I used the multimeter to CONFIRM no power. With no power present I un-clipped the electrical connections and then did all the above steps in reverse. 15 - 20 minutes total repair time. Read more...
