Samsung Microwave Oven Combo Door Key
★★★★★
★★★★★
16 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS4229162
Manufacturer Part Number DE64-00760A
The microwave door key (or door latch) ensures that the microwave door closes properly while the microwave is operating. If the door key is broken, the door will not close and the microwave will not start. If you notice that the microwave door is not staying closed, check to ensure that the door key is in working order and is not damaged. This door key is made of plastic and has a spring attached to provide downward tension to keep the hooks engaged. If either of the hooks is broken or does not have any spring tension, you may need to replace the door latch. Before beginning this repair, make sure to unplug the unit and remove the inner door panel to access the door key. This part is also known as a door latch.

Microwave door did not close
Initially I called a Samsung recommended appliance repair outfit to fix the latch. The technician informed me that he does not fix latches. I need to buy a full new door for the microwave for $215 plus he charges $165 to come to my house. I got angry and did some research and it turned out that this is a very common problem. I ordered part PS4229162 "door key" $6.67 then followed the instructions on a youtube video by zimsjeep
"Repair a Broken Microwave Door Latch" to install. At first I struggled a bit hooking up the spring to the frame, but then I used a slim plier to hold the spring (instead of my fingers) and that did the trick.

PartSelect Number PS4240803
Manufacturer Part Number DG44-01002A
This is a dual element switch that is made for use within Samsung ranges. This switch is necessary to turn the heating elements on and off, and control how hot they get. Over time and with more frequent use, this element switch can fail, however, it can also break if it is damaged by a power surge or food contamination. To replace this switch, you will need a screwdriver to access it and a set of pliers to remove the wires connected to it. This switch is sold individually, so be sure to check how many switches are not working properly before ordering.

Samsung Microwave Oven Combo Thermistor Sensor
★★★★★
★★★★★
6 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS4240743
Manufacturer Part Number DG32-00002B
This is a range temperature sensor, used to detect the interior temperature of your oven when it is baking or cooking. If you notice your oven is baking unevenly or at inconsistent temperatures, will not start or has too little or too much heat, it is likely that the temperature sensor is bad, or defective. This temperature sensor features a 3.9-inch-long probe, 3.2-inch-long wire harness, and 1.7-inch-wide support bracket. Replacing this sensor is fairly simple but will require a screwdriver, wrench and drill with the appropriate Philips-head bit. Disconnect your range from the wall outlet and pull it out from the wall. Removing your range door is not necessary, but will make removing the sensor that much easier. You will now locate your temperature sensor, which will likely be near the heating element at the top/bottom of the oven. Remove any securing screws holding the heating element and/or sensor in place. At the rear of the range, disconnect and remove the rear panel to gain access to the electronics of the range. Disengage the sensor and its locking tabs, and may also require you to disconnect the terminals for the heating element if your temperature sensor is fastened to it. Remove the sensor and heating element (if necessary). If the sensor is connected to the heating element, use a wrench to unfasten it. Now you install the new temperature sensor and reassemble your oven, ensuring that wire terminals are connected correctly.

Oven would not heat consistently
My barely 4 year old Samsung range/oven began not heating consistently. Even though it said 350, for example, we had to increase to 465 to get it to bake. Thought it was the temperature sensor. Ordered and installed new one easily. That didn't solve the problem. So, rather than throw more money at parts that may not have resolved the issue, I got a new Amana range. Samsung appliances go to my 'do not buy' list along with LG! Read more...

Samsung Microwave Oven Combo Hot Surface Igniter Assembly
★★★★★
★★★★★
12 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS4241428
Manufacturer Part Number DG94-00520A
This is an oven burner igniter made for use with Samsung ovens. This oven burner igniter is designed to ignite the gas that flows into it, to produce heat. However, over time and with further frequent use or food contamination, this burner can fail and will need to be replaced. If your burner is glowing red or orange, it is functioning as intended, but if your oven does not heat up properly, it likely needs replacement. This oven burner igniter is an OEM part that comes by itself and does not come with any of the screws necessary to secure it inside your oven.

Oven not heating and holding temp
The Samsung stove I have has had the igniter replaced several times. It seems to wear out over a couple years time. I did the repair with a Philips #2 screw driver. Open the oven door, remove the grates. unscrew the bottom cover and expose the heat shield. Unscrew the heat shield. This exposes the burner. Unscrew the burner from the center of the plate/lower heat shield. Unscrew the burner from the front and back of the oven. Carefully lift up the burner to expose the igniter and clip. Unscrew the igniter from the burner and set the burner aside. Unclip the igniter from the power cable. If it falls below, it won't go far just reach in a lift it back up to fasten the new igniter to the power clip. Refasten to the burner with new clips and screws provided. Re-insert the burner to the gas jet that is below the bottom plate which will not be visible to you unless you place your head towards the rear of the stove and look down. Once the Jet is back into the hole of the burner, re fasten it to the middle back and front of the stove. Replace the covers and grates. Close the oven and test it. A new igniter does wonders. You can remove the stove door for a less intrusive install, but I found it unnecessary to do so and saved a step and time. I was done well under 30 minutes. Read more...

Samsung Microwave Oven Combo Micro Door Switch
★★★★★
★★★★★
10 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS4131192
Manufacturer Part Number 3405-001034
This door switch, also known as a safety switch, is a genuine OEM replacement part for microwaves. It is a safety mechanism that sends signals to the microwaves control system, telling it when the door is open/closed. This ensures that the microwave only operates when the door is securely shut and switches off as soon as the door is open. Over time, this switch can become worn out or damaged. A faulty door switch can result in failure to switch the microwave on/off, lack of heat, and running with the door open. To confirm that the door switch is faulty, use a multimeter to test for electrical failure. To remove the faulty switch, disconnect the wiring connectors and take note of where they are positioned. Place the new switch in position and reattach the wiring connectors to the appropriate terminals and close the microwave door to check that the switch engages appropriately.

Microwave would not start when door closed. Sometimes you could push in or jiggle door and it would work for awhile and then it woud stop again. I knew it eas a door switch issue but wasn't certain which of the 3 or the body latch itself.
I removed the body latch assembly and found the bottom micro switch (NC) terminal burnt and loose. I replaced and working perfectly fine now. Easy diagnose and easy repair. Read more...

Replacing microwave door handle and lock hingr spring
Take a decent putty knife or your handy kitchen spatular. Open microwave door and out the outside edge of the dark plastic trim panel, insert the spatula or putty knife and gently pop the panel loose from the small retaining clips. You must do this from the outside edge as that is where the trim panel will release from. Remove the trim panel. Using a flashlight, inspect the metal door frame and find the two Phillips screws holding on the door handle. Unscrew and remove door handle. Lift up on the door latch mechanism, its black plastic and has two legs that slide into the door frame. Between the two plastic poles (legs) you will find the spring, unhook if not broken from the middle of the plastic bracket. You will notice that the metal door frame has three holes. The top and bottom are for the latch mechanism to slide through. The middle is for the spring to latch into (rear or side closest to outside of the door), with the round area which is open, is there for the spring to slide into. Manually slide the door latch up and down. Replace the screws for the door handle if not already done. And reinstall the black plastic inside door trim panel gently pushing into place so that the mounting tabs click into place. Tell your wife you spent all day doing it (its about a 20 minute job) and that you saved thousands of dollars :). Insert popcorn and turn on a movie. Read more...

Samsung Microwave Oven Combo High Voltage Diode
★★★★★
★★★★★
4 Reviews
PartSelect Number PS4235633
Manufacturer Part Number DE91-70063D
This high-voltage diode is designed for use within various makes and models of microwaves and is a genuine OEM part that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). If you notice your microwave turns on and starts but does not heat anything, this diode is likely responsible. You can check the continuity of the diode with a multimeter before outright replacing it, but it is important to remember that doing any repairs on a microwave and dealing with sensitive electrical components should be done carefully and with the appropriate precautions to avoid any hazards. To replace the high-voltage diode in your microwave, disconnect it from power and allow it to discharge. Using the appropriate screwdrivers, gain access to the control panel of the microwave. Using an insulated screwdriver, release any electrical charge in the capacitor by touching it across the terminals. Then you can remove any hardware securing the diode, including the harness connecting it to the capacitor, which may be easiest done with pliers. Connect the new diode to the capacitor terminal and the securing bracket, and then reassemble your microwave before connecting it to power again.

This is a bottom-mounted air filter manufactured for a microwave. The microwave air filter filters the air flowing in and out of the microwave, and traps grease from the exhaust. A dirty or clogged filter can alter the taste and smell of your food or cause the appliance to be less efficient. This filter is approximately 13+ inches wide and 6 inches deep. This part is sold separately. No tools are required for this repair, the filter simply slides in and out of the underside of your microwave. It is an original part sourced from the authentic manufacturer.
