This breather, also known as a fuel tank vent, is a genuine OEM replacement part used in trimmers and edgers. It is responsible for managing the pressure and air flow inside the fuel system, by acting as a valve for the fuel tank. It allows clean air to enter the tank, while preventing dirt and debris from entering as well. Over time, the breather can crack or become clogged leading to restricted air flow, inconsistent fuel supply, fuel leakage, hard starting, and engine stalling. Locate the breather on or near the fuel tank and disconnect the hoses and fasteners attached to it. Depending on your model you may need to remove the fuel tank to complete this replacement. Place the new breather in position and reattach the hoses and fasteners. Test the new part by gently blowing into the breather to confirm that the air flow is not restricted.

The manufacturer certified Foam Air Filter is a black, foam part, used to filter out contaminents from entering the carburetor. It attaches in the air cleaner housing, is rated as "Easy" to install, and requires a screw driver (Tip: put a bit of two-cycle oil in the bag, and let it absorb into the filter). If the part wears out, the engine will burn more fuel and you will have noticably less power because it will be starved for air. If this happens, the part must be replaced. Refer to your make, model and diagram to ensure this air filter is correct for your machine.
