Piston pins, also known as wrist or gudgeon pins, are designed to connect the connecting rod to the piston, and act as a pivot for the piston to move up and down in the cylinder, whilst being connected to the rod. This pin measures 35mm long, has a 10mm diameter, and is designed for use within various models of small engine equipment and is sold as an individual OEM part. If you notice poor engine performance, any unusual sounds like knocking or rattling coming from the engine, or excessive movement within the piston upon inspection, it needs to be replaced immediately. You can prevent a piston pin replacement with proper maintenance such as adequate lubrication and regular inspections. To replace the piston pin, you will need tools specific to your equipment model, but you need to disassemble the engine, remove the piston from the connecting rod, and replace the piston pin.
