Broken Dryer Knob

First let me just say that Partselect.com is now one my stored favorites in my web browser. I came home from a business trip and saw a pair of pliers on the dryer. I thought that was odd until my wife informed me that the knob on the dryer had broken. So she was using the pliers to select the cycle. Somehow she knew where the missing pointer was actually pointing. Since the dryer was over 5 years old I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade both appliances. Not with my frugal wife. Old panel lid broken and brittle

Removed lid and placed upside down on floor. Pulled plastic retainer clips and removed gasket. Removed old panel. Repositioned new panel and reversed assembly.

Ordered only one spare plastic clip. Too expensive to invest in more. Luckly only broke one of the old clips.

Broken Handle on Main Door

Unscrewed the old screws and removed broken piece of handle. Put new screws in for handle to latch in. Swung handle in place and put the 2 special screws in top of handle. Job done. Microwave Door Exterior panel was cracked and the handle was broken

I disassembled the door by removing three screws from the side opposite the hinges and pried (lifted) that edge up and rotated the panel away from the metal portion of the door towards the hinges. I assembled the new door panel by attaching the handle (2 screws). I attached the new door panel by starting at the hinge side of the door and working towards the opposite end of the door. The last little bit was tough to get it to snap over the metal sub-door. I reinstalled the 3 screws to snug, not tight because I did not want to crack the plastic. Read more...
