Power would not come on, would trip breaker when connected.
First thing I dir was search YouTube for any related videos and found this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHj4H9Fdxrc, it was the exact problem my microwave was exhibiting. Once I verified the problem by troubleshooting, I removed the part and verified that the switches were working fine, the door latch assembly showed signs of wear which was the cause of the problem. After receiving the replacement part I installed it, verified that power was restored to the unit and reassembled the microwave, works fine, hope it lasts a long time!

Electrolux Microwave Door Latch
I found PartSelect and called them. They didn't have the exact problem I had. They had a FAQ about the MW not starting. Mine wouldn't stop.
After describing what was happening, they had it in one. Looked at the plastic latch, bottom was curved out of shape. Door wouldn't close properly, causing it to run. It didn't heat, just ran. I ordered the parts. A spring and a latch. They came in quickly and my son and I began the repair. Found a You Tube on a similar type of door and they posited it might be the latch with step by step to follow. Ran back and forth from computer to kitchen.
Now, we didn't have the right tools to go along with the video we were watching. A long thin blade (about 12 inches) knife was used as the putty knife to pry up the edging that held the door glass. My son's long thin tiny philips screwdriver he uses to fix toys worked for the really tiny screws that held the latch part. We didn't have long nose pliers, but we messed up that part anyway, forgot to put in the new spring with the new latch. We worked it by hand and it went back together. Put it all together and discovered we forgot to put those tiny screws back at the latch. Wrestled the door back on and started it. Almost had a heart attack as it still was running when off. So unplugged, let it reset and it's been fine. Think it probably would have gone smoother with the proper tools. Anyway, glad I found PartSelect and that it was a relatively easy fix, even for those without tools and experience. A am a retiree, so don't feel you can't do it. Thank you so much PartSelect. This door latch keeps the microwave door closed during operation. The latch is approximately 7 inches long and has 2 hooks to ensure that the door closes properly. The hooks also contact the door switches to provide power to the controls. The microwave will not start unless the door is properly closed, so if you notice that the microwave door is not staying closed, check to ensure that the latch is in working order and is not damaged. The latch assembly is made of plastic and has a spring attached to provide downward tension to keep the hooks engaged. If either of the hooks is broken or does not have any spring tension, you may need to replace the door latch. Before beginning this repair, make sure to unplug the unit and remove the inner door panel to access the door latch.

MW wouldn't stop running- not heating, just running
Went through some anxious hours when I found that the MW would not turn off. The only way was to leave the door open. Not a solution. Tried a appliance repair that I knew, they didn't work on MWs. Spoke to the manufacturer, for $99 would come out and then tell me the real cost to fix. After more searching, even to maybe getting a new MW, (which necessitates getting a new bracket for the over the stove MW. They evidently are not standard, but proprietary to brands. Not good!)Buying a MW, okay, but someone has to put it in. Where are the good old days of selling, delivery, service? I'm from a small town, that's SOP. I found PartSelect and called them. They didn't have the exact problem I had. They had a FAQ about the MW not starting. Mine wouldn't stop.

Electrolux Microwave Door Open Lever
PartSelect Number PS3506555
Manufacturer Part Number 5304485407
This door release lever, also known as a door open lever, is an original manufacturer replacement for microwave/oven combos. When the door release button is pressed, the lever releases the door latch, allowing the door to open. The lever can fail due to physical damage or wear over time, making it difficult or impossible to open the microwave door. You will need to remove the microwave cover/housing to access the lever. First, unplug the microwave from the power source to prevent electrical hazards. Locate the control panel and remove the fasteners that hold it to the microwave frame. Make a note of how the wires are connected to the terminals on the control board. It can be helpful to take a picture for reference. Pry the door release lever off and press the new one into place on the control panel. Reposition the control panel on the microwave frame and reattach the wire connectors to the appropriate terminals. Make sure it is properly aligned before mounting it in place with the fasteners. Reassemble the microwave and reconnect it to the power source.

The microwave door was stuck shut, because the p;lastic piece internal was broken...
first of all, ordered the right piece, second, brought the right handyman to help...getting the over/microwave out as one piece took some doing...then the cover of the microwave had to come off...once we got to the piece itself, it was no issue... then putting it all back together...took about two hours...he needed our assistance because of thew weight and the need to pull the units out simultaneously

Push Button does not open door very well because door latch plastic is starting to split
Plastic trim on inside of the door pops out if you pry with a flathead screwdriver. Then lift door latch out of place and carefully remove the spring. New latch goes back in the way the old one came out. Door trim pops back in.

Electrolux Microwave Latch Hook
1 Remove two screws holding oven into enclosure.
2. Remove trim piece from bottom.
3. Open oven door, and engage part on hinge which keeps door from closing all the way. Now, door can be lifted and removed, set aside.
4. Slide oven out. This is very heavy, and it's best to have two people as well as something slightly lower than the oven to put it on, I used a chair.
5. Remove microwave trim, 4 screws.
6. Remove baffle which protects microwave power cord.
7. Loosen 4 screws from bottom of microwave. I used a Screwdriver bit with a pliers, as there isn't much room. Slide microwave forward or back, and microwave can be lifted from oven.
8. Remove 4 screws on side, 2 security Star screws on bottom of back, and 3 regular screws on back.
9. Remove top heat shield, and top/sides cover. Danger, do not plug in microwave with top/side cover missing. Also, capacitor on right/back may hold dangerous voltages, short the terminals using well-insulated tool. There is a bleed resistor which is supposed to do this, but you can never be too careful.
10. Open microwave drawer. Unscrew the front control panel from the inside. Remove plastic part the door open button usually moves, the part needs to be pulled to the left side to be removed. Take a picture of the wires attached to the switches on the latch plate, so you put them back correctly.
11. Remove wire connectors from switches. These connectors have a retaining feature, if you push the retaining feature, it doesn't take too much force to remove it. There are 6 wires. Remove the latch plate, there may be a screw or two.
12. Take note of which switches are normally own and normally closed. They have to go back the same way. I mainly took out the latch plate because the switches stopped working, a couple had welded themselves together internally. But, I had to replace the latch plate because I improperly removed the switches and broke the plate. The switches are held in place by a pin through the switch, a couple of static parts from the latch plate, and a tab which sticks up from the bottom of the latch plate. The pin is very fragile. Depress the tan from the bottom of the latch plate, and the switch should rotate on the pin. Do not release the tab until the such has rotated past it. Now, you can lift the switch.
13. Reverse all of these steps with the new patch plate to put everything back together. You might want to test the microwave before reattaching it to the oven.
14. To put the oven back into the cavity, it's best to lean the back edge over the bottom of the cavity, then lift the oven from the front and slide it in. Read more...
