This is a drain pump assembly for various compatible models of dishwashers, that is responsible for draining the water from the dishwasher after every cycle. This drain pump assembly is made of plastic and fits within the sump assembly, which controls the flow of water into the drain. This drain pump assembly is a genuine OEM part and is made of a high-quality plastic but is sold as an individual component without any other parts, like its drain pump check ball which works within the pump to prevent water from backwashing into the pump, as well as the drain pump cover. If you notice your dishwasher is not draining or has a lot of water buildup at the bottom of the sump assembly, this filter may be damaged, clogged or broken, and in need of a replacement. To replace this pump assembly, you will only need a Philips-head screwdriver, but should start by removing your dishwasher racks. Then, pull up on the lower spray arm, and drain trap to remove them. Next, rotate the spray arm support and pull that up to remove it, at which point you can remove the base and filter for the drain pump. With those out, you can use your Philips-head screwdriver to disconnect and remove the cover and drain pump assembly. With the pump removed, you can inspect it or install the new drain pump assembly, with the same hardware as before. Then it is as simple as reassembling the rest of your dishwasher, ensuring each connection point is fastened tightly.

This drain pump is used in dishwashers to remove water from the dishwasher tub. If the impeller in the dishwasher is damaged or the motor has been shorted out and will not drain, it is possible the body is cracked, causing leakage. To prevent this from happening, replace the drain pump. The tools needed for this installation are: Phillips screwdriver, 5/16 inch nut driver, 5/8 inch wrench, and a flathead screwdriver. Remember to unplug your dishwasher from the power source before beginning this installation project. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions.

dishwasher not draining after wash cycle
Caviat: The actual repair is less than 15 minutes, but I spent a lot of time playing with it before I figured out it was that easy and fast. You don't need to remove the dishwasher from the counter to do this. And it will probably help to look at the new part closely so you can understand where the retainer clip is to press it and release the old pump.

First remove the water from the dishwasher pan that would not drain with a wet/dry vac. Otherwise the water will all drain on the floor when you remove the pump. Then remove the two screws on the kickplate on the front of the unit below the door. Remove the kickplate/maintainence access cover. The drain pump is on the right about 8 inches in. Using two hands you grasp the drain pump with your right hand and use the left hand to push the retaining clip down. Then the drain pump will rotate 1/4 turn counterclockwise and can be removed without pulling the dishwasher out. There is likely to be some water leak out that was traped in the pump housing that you can not reach with the vac. Disconnect the wire. Connect the wire to the new pump, put it in place and 1/4 turn clockwise to install it. Replace the kickplate and you're done.

not cleaning, spray arms not working
The hardest part was disconnecting the dishwasher. the motor is located on the bottom so after pulling it out and laying it down on the front of the machine the motor unplugs and 2 screws hold it in place. The new motor comes with "O" rings so I applied a little grease and put it back together. 2 minutes to replace motor, 15 minutes to disconnect water and electric, 15 to reconnect. PartSelect Number PS11756031

This drain pump is an authentic OEM replacement part for models of dishwasher. It is responsible for removing wastewater from the dishwasher during the drainage cycle. It is located at the bottom of the dishwasher and can be accessed by removing the lower access panel or by tipping the dishwasher on to its rear side. When activated, the drain pump pushes the wastewater through the drain hose and into the household plumbing system or garbage disposal. If the drain pump malfunctions or becomes clogged, it can lead to drainage issues, resulting in water pooling at the bottom of the dishwasher, foul odors and potentially resulting in incomplete cleaning of dishes.

PartSelect Number PS11757388

The circulation pump and motor is located near the bottom of the dishwasher. The part functions by spinning the impeller of the circulation pump, which is used to move the water through the spray arms during the wash cycle. Before you begin this repair, it is recommended that you pull your dishwasher out of the cabinet, so you can tip the dishwasher to one side and gain better access to the circulation pump and motor. Be sure to disconnect the power source and the water source to the dishwasher before you begin this repair. To complete this repair you will need a 1/4 inch nut driver and a 3/8 inch nut driver.

Loud grinding noise from water pump
Rather than remove the pump assembly - as an earlier post had done - I pulled the entire dishwasher out and laid it down on the floor. This allowed easy, direct access to the motor (that was the hard, messy part). From this point it was easy. Unplug the wiring, remove the retaining bolt, rotate the motor off the mounting brackets and pull it out. Then put the new one in. That was the easy part (about 15 minutes). The entire job took 2-and-a-half hours, most of which was taken in disconnecting, cleaning up and reconnecting the dishwasher. It's much quieter now. Read more...

This dishwasher drain and wash impeller kit comes with both the drain and wash impeller, gaskets, chopper, and installation screw. This part helps stop your dishwasher from leaking and helps with the proper draining of the dishwasher. If you notice that your dishes are not cleaning, the dishwasher is not draining properly, or is making any unusually loud sounds or grinding noises, this could indicate the impeller and seal kit have broken down and need to be replaced. You will need a #15 and #20 torx driver, a small flat-blade screwdriver, 1/4-inch nut driver, adjustable wrench, and a small hammer and a sharp chisel.

Water not draining, causing "0E" number to appear and initiatate dishwasher shutdown.
According to your site, the part(s), to consider, to resolve the problem were: 1.Motor Assembly DC Pump, OR 2.Drain Pump. I simply selected the drain pump because it was cheaper and because it was making a clicking noise. (The only significant noise that this dishwasher was making) To be safe, I unplugged the unit and turned off the water, under the sink. I removed the kick plate and I unscrewed the anchor clips from under the counter and carefully pulled the unit out. I then opened the dishwasher and removed the lower rack. To minimize water clean-up, I took a rag and soaked up the standing water in the bottom until it was nearly dry. I then tipped the dishwasher on it's left side, knowing where the location of the drain pump (front, right), would be in an easier location for me to work. I first unplugged the pumps wiring. Then, with pliers, I was able to disconnect the clips on the short, rubber hoses that hold the pump in alignment.(Use caution: If reusing the same rubber hose(s) on the new pump, it will be easier if you put them on in the same direction as they were take off) Then I removed the rubber supports off their hooks, that allow the pump to hang from the bottom of the dishwasher. Once the rubber hoses are re-connected on the new pump and placed on to it's former proper alignment, you can re-attach the rubber supports to their hooks. And last, but not least, remember to plug the new pump's wires back in place. Carefully stand up dishwasher and push it slowly back into place. I plugged in the unit and turned on the water. Before I screwed the unit back to the counter and kick plate back on the front, I ran a load and watched for leaks beneath the new pumps area. No leaks. "Easy, Peasy". Read more...

My dishwasher was not draining
With the help of You Tube, this 50 year old Mom got the job done. Not that complicated if you watch the step by step instructions on the Appliance Pro video. My repairman and husband were both determined to just buy a new one but this 20 year old dishwashing genius was just in need of a little repair. Only need a screwdriver, and slightly confusing as wires hook on a little different on new pumps. I suggest watching video the whole way through and then playing it step by step as you do the repair. Worked great for me. Thanks. Read more...
