6493-LWM-353 Amana Washer - Instructions

I disconnected the water supply line to washer and moved washer into open area. I removed the front panel of washer to gain access to drain hose. I removed hose and reinstalled new hose. I did turn the hose holder inside the washer as it allowed the old hose to rub against the housing support of the washer causing the hose to leak. I was glad that I read the article that someone mentioned in their repair. The new hose was somewhat difficult to maneuver through the back of the washer and through the part that held the hose; otherwise, it was rather easy. Thanks for the feed back on your web page.

Washer is old, but in very good condition. PartSelect was the only company I could find that had a replacement part. That included checking with Amana delears and other repair companies. The sequence of repair in 11 steps: 1. Unplug the washer. 2. Remove 6 philips screws (3 top,3 bottom) from the front of washer control panel to release the control panel. 3.Remove ground wire clipped to the timer. 4.Remove the knob. Could not unscrew,so I placed the tip of screwdriver against the end of the shaft on the backside of the bad timer and tapped to remove the shaft. 5. Use a 1/4" nutdriver to remove 2 screws securing the old timer. 6. Squeeze end tabs and remove control wiring plug. 7. Reverse steps 7 to 4. 8. Unscrew old shaft from the knob 9. Replace timer face plate (keyed to match new timer shaft only goes on one way). 10. Screw knob onto new timer. 11. Reverse steps 2 and 1. Note: It took me twice as long as it should of, I had the assistance of my 2 year old granddaughter Malae.

removed all old parts, put in new, saved a bundle

Replaced the timer and knob. Very simple..!! Works great now... dont have to struggle turning the washer knob anymore.

simple as removing front panel from washer held on by two screws and the hose was right their. Took a few minutes to disconnect it from the pump and pull it out through the rear, then feed the replacement in and reverse the process. Piece of cake. Thank you.

First I removed 2 screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I connected the new value and put it back in place. I then put the screws back in place.

Removed the cover on the washer controls. Loosed the knob and popped it off. Then disconnected the plug and replaced with the new part. Put th ekonb back on and closed it all up. It was pretty easy. Took longer to reomove all the screws than it did to remove and replace the part.

1. Removed the hot and cold water hoses. 2. Undid one screw holding on the solenoid mounting plate. 3. Pushed the plate in at the top to unlatch the plate at the bottom. 4. Pulled the plate out and undid the output hose. 5. Replaced the solenoid assembly held on by two screws. 6. Replaced it all in the revers order.

After receiving the new hose we replaced the hose and tested the washer by running a rinse cycle. The new hose fixed the problem.

Hardest thing was moving washing machine away from wall. Two screws on panel. One screw for hose.

I pulled off the old metal sheath with a pair needle nose pliers....grueling....then gently slid on the new knob.

The repair was easy. It took approximately 30 minutes.

Took the timer nub off by unscrewing then the cover housing the timer unit . 6 Screws . 3 In front 3 in back . Cover came off easy. Un plug the power. Disconect old timer and replace with the new . Plug comes off easy by gently puling it out . Put back cover put back timer nub plug the power on and there it was back as new.

We promptly received the part and easily installed it with no tools. We had an excellent experience. We found the old fabric softener dispenser after installing the new one. Now, we have two.

within about 5 minutes I was able to search on the make of the washing machine and then quickly find the broken knob.
this in spite of not knowing the model number for a 25 year old machine. it couldn't have beeb easier than that.
