... Read moreimary interlock switch was mechanically broken, I replaced the upper primary interlock switch also. With a DVM I checked the middle switch which tested good. The old switches can be carefully removed from the latch board by slightly bending the lock tabs and unplugging them, installation is the reverse of removal. I tested the release button and latch mechanism before replacing the cover. I tested the microwave only with the cover on for safety. Parts arrived quickly and easy repair on an 18 year old reliable microwave. A year ago, I replaced the magnetron, capacitor and diode on the same unit which did not heat.

The response I received doesn't fix my issue. The door latch is not the problem. The mechanism that pushes the door latch up is. There are two hooks on the door latch. The bottom hook disengages by a mechanism when i press the button. I can see it moving. The top mechanism doesn't cause the hook to release nor can i see it when i press the button. This is the piece i need to replace; not the door latch.

Hi Brain, Thank you for the question. The latch board, PartSelect Number: PS11725177 would have the tab that pushes the hook up and out when the button is engaged. Hope this helps!

When i press the button to open the door we have to assist it open as the door latches don't completely release. With the door open you can see the 2 areas the door latch hooks go into. When i press the button only one white tab moves up which i believe pushes the door latch hook up. The upper area has no movement so i know it doesn't push the door latch hook up. I'm not sure what part i need to buy to fix this problem.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your question. If you are having issues opening the door, then you may have to replace it. Here is some information on installing a door latch, "Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. You will need to remove the plastic lining around the inside of the door. There are retainer clips holding the liner in place and you will need to use a putty knife to remove it. Depending on the type of microwave you have, you may have to come in from the bottom or from the top to remove the lining. Gently slide the putty knife in between the lining and the frame and go around the frame and gently pry it loose. On the hinge side you will need to come in from the backside to pry the lining off. The door latch is held in place by tension. There is a spring that is usually attached to the latch and to one of the fins on the door to provide it. With the inner lining removed you can now remove the old latch. Install the new latch by slipping it into the slots in the door and attach the spring to the bottom fin to allow for tension in the latch. Reinstall the lining and close the door.
