Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Years going by
The year of the GE oven I could not fine and the serial number was not clear the broil burn out. The old broil element had 3 inches long prongs with a ceramic fittings. The broil element lighter the prongs was short but balanced good I attached with the two crews and it worked.

Worked as expected
It was a little difficult installing but that's because I didn't have the right tools for the job. I improvised and made a tool that would work and it was simple after that. My old broiler element had to be unscrewed from the wires instead of just popping off and the new one had to be screwed back on. It works perfectly!

Easy order and fits perfectly
It's been awhile since I ordered parts for an oven. Part Select made this process so easy. I just entered the model number of the oven and picked the two elements. Two days later the parts were sitting on my porch. Perfect!

Both heating elements not working
Removed racks from oven. Each element had two screws, used socket wrench for all, gently pulled out element to exposé wiring removed wires with same socket. Once element out of oven, reattached wires to new element, reset element to back of oven and with the two screws attached back. Did the same process for top element only exception was
... Read more a bracket holding top element from leaning down. It had two screws all the same size as element screws. Once all back in place turned on breaker to check each element.
Bake element stopped working. Oven was not getting hot.
Used socket set to remove bolts holding the elements in place, then used a screw driver to remove the wires from the elements. Replaced with new elements, screwed in the wires and reattached the elements to the wall with the bolts. It was easy, it was just a small space to work in.
The oven just stopped heating. It is probably around 30 years old and has nothing digital to it which I like!
I initially only purchased the heating element since this usually the cause of the broil element not functioning well. It took a little longer to receive because I had to order it over the Holidays. Once it arrived it was very easy to replace. It worked very well after installation but the broil element still did not function. I then pu
... Read morerchased the broil element and received it within approximately 4 days. It took just a little more time to replace because there was a brace that was attached to the upper oven that helped to hold it in place. Once the wires were attached with the screws it worked very quickly. It's nice to have my oven back in use again!

Bake element failed - it kind of broke open in one spot.
Due to this wall oven being vintage 1972, I decided to replace the broil element along with the bake element that had actually failed. The repair was pretty straight forward as seen on the videos, altough it can be somewhat tight to use screw drivers or nut drivers with long handles. You may find that shorty screw drivers or a 1/4 inch
... Read moreratchet wrench and appropriate socket are easier to work with. There were two things that I was cautious about. The first was to be very gentle with the power wires since I didn't know what condition their insulation was in. I tried not to scrape them on the sheet metal opening as I pulled them gently out through the oven insulation. Secondly, I was very, very careful in moving the oven temperature sensor probe out of the way so I could undo the broil element. Before I started the job, I had learned that this probe isn't a separate piece part, it is part of the entire THERMOSTAT ASSEMBLY for the stove and it's not readily available. Furthermore, this assembly costs $250 to $350 !!!! The only negative with this job was that the old broil element has some kind of heat resistant material on the rear of the plate that attaches it to the oven wall. This old material fell apart during disassembly. I kind of pieced it back together during assembly, but I would have liked to have been told I needed this piece (since there wasn't an exploded parts view on the web for me to look at)or a new piece of this material should have been supplied as part of the broil element.
