Slow shipper but very good parts. Order when you have some time to complete the repair. Very good selection of parts so I will re-order but will schedule appropriately.

VERY NOISY!!!
Have done this before - dissembled, cleaned everything, re-assembled with new parts - rear bearing, idler, and belt. Hardest part is getting the spring back on the idler pulley. You take the top lid off, remove the front panel and then the drum. remove the access panel on the back to release the spring tension on the idler pulley,

Put belt back on and try again. Try operating with air mode to spin drum. If belt stays on, complete re-assembling and make sure you have no screws left over!
Removed small panel from back of Dryer, and removed Idler Pulley Assembly. From the front, lifted the top of Dryer to get access to the drum, disconnected the two wires for the Stop switch, removed the four screws, two on each side, and lowered down the front panel. Now,removed old belt and installed new, installed new Idler Pulley Assembly,a

The drum belt was making a squealing noise, and it looked frayed.
Had to remove the front of the dryer but installation was quick and easy. An affordable and quick repair.

Belt snapped after 13 yrs. maybe 15 yrs
I raised up the top then took 4 bolts out of the front and it came off and then I slipped the belt on. Now was the fun part. I tried to put belt around the tension spring from the front of the machine. Bad mistake. So I turned the machine around and took off little plate bottom left, back side reached in and WA-LA back in commision. I too

I took the front part off, then removed the old belt out and installed the new one in. Also fix the tensioner wheel (it had come off) After I posisoned / aligned the belt. Also cleaned the whole dryer with compressed air, it was really dirty and nasty, this dryer has not been cleaned in 20 years, overall I had a great experience with part

Belt broken, drum did not rotate, broken lint screen
First of all, check the feedback on your parts installation at partselect.com. You can learn alot and make the job that much easier. I simply popped the top lid on the dryer, remove the electrical connections to the front panel shut off, then removed the screws and popped the tabs for the front panel to install the new belt around the dru

The lint screen is a simple two screw installation with little or no issues. Once installation was complete the dryer fired up and the drum began to spin once again. A simple repair done at a great savings!
The first part was the most difficult-opening the front of the dryer cabinet! Once open, the new belt was installed and then the new idler pulley was put in-place. The cabinet was closed-job done.
1st I pried the dryer top open then disconnected the two wires for the auto shut-off. Removed four nuts with driver that opens front and releases dryer barrel. Lifted front up a bit to remove from two lower tabs at bottom of unit and put aside.
I then slid the belt over the barrel noting the side up directions on the belt. On

I put the belt on the pulley and brought the belt tension pulley over the belt. I then aligned the belt to the proper point on the barrel and reattached the front being careful to center the barrel onto the rim that is built into the front. Take care to align all the tabs and shims in the correct order so that barrel rotates freely. Replace auto shut off wires to switch on inside of front and close top.

Drum turns until you put clothes in. White Westinghouse dryer
For model number DE170ADD1
Hello Larry, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the belt, Part Number: PS459830. Make sure it does not have wear or is lose and slipping with the weight int he drum. If the belt is good you may have a defective or weak motor. I looked up the part and it is listed as No Longer Available/Discontinued. There is no part substitutions listed. My suggestion here would be to call the manufacturer and see if they can provide you with a substitution for these part numbers. Hope this helps!
