This genuine inner door foam insulation strip, sometimes known as bottom seal foam, is used to create a waterproof seal that helps prevent leaking from the door area of the dishwasher. The existing insulation strip may leave a sticky residue or leftover disintegrated strip that must be scraped off before installing the new strip. Residue can be scraped off with a putty knife. Be sure to remove all residue and clean surrounding areas of the dishwasher build. It is strongly recommended to check other sealant parts on the dishwasher door such as the door gasket and dispenser grommet to ensure the leaking issue is fully solved.

easy repair and cheap fix
As other reviews mentioned this part solved the majority of the leak. I was getting a little leak along the door rubber due to the door being slightly warped from bent hinges and door opening all the way to the floor. I am planning to remodel and replace the unit in the near future so I did not want to spend the $120 so I flipped the rubber over and it created a tight seal. It seems sense the door only makes contact to the rubber on a thin center line so the edges were still thick and firm enough to make a seal. I know this is not the solution but it is a temporary quick fix that is working like a charm.

Not what I needed
I need a form piece all around the door. This was only a few inches long. There is nothing on this site that is what I need.

Dishwasher leaked from lower right side of the door
First i bought inner door seal and that didnt work,so i read some of the other repair reviews and found that it was the soap cup latch gasket. When i removed the cover from the door you could see where the water and soap was getting in and running down to the lower right side of the door.Once i looked at the door latch gasket it was easy t
... Read moreo see it was torn and worn out.I did replace all four gasket's just for assurance down the road.
Used utube to replace the inner seal. Did not stop the leak completely, had to replace the entire door seal and level the machine.I did the inner seal myself, but had a repairman under our homeowner warranty do the rest.

Detergent cup wouldn't open/Leak along bottom of door
Replace wax timer for detergent cup. Replaced foam insulation at bottom of the door.
Water Leak at right side bottom of the dishwasher door
After dissassembling the unit to discover the leakage source I determined that it would do best to replace the top three contributors to the problem as listed by you. Disassembly, parts replacement and reassembly was straight forward and a few hints garnered from your good instructions and assembly blow-up drawings made the job simple wi
... Read moreth the most difficult task being the removal of the adhesive foam gasket at the bottom of the door's interior. After scraping as much of the deteriorated foam away as possible with a plastic scraper I used some of my wife's nail polisher remover and a clean-up rag (being careful not to get the remover on plastic parts)and soon I had the adhesion area surface clean and ready to receive the new seal. With close attention to clean up of residues left behind from detergent and water and care taken with part installation and reassembly it no longer leaks and I hope to get another 10-15 years of leak free operation out of the dishwasher
Dishwasher was leaking during wash cycle out the front door
Replaced the door gasket, inner foam strip and the bottom seals on the door. Unfortunately I broke the plastic door latch handle in the process and had to purchase a complete latch assembly too.
Removed 11 T20 Torx head screws. Removed and replaced latch. Removed and replaced door seal and foam insulation strip - no additional tools required. Super easy to repair and didn't leak a drop afterwards.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your question. You should not have to trim back your insulation to install this part. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Does this Maytag dishwasher have a lower door gasket? Mine dw is leaking but if that foam insulator does not also inhibit leaks, then it may be just the gasket running around the opening that needs to be changed out

Hello Larry and thanks for writing.
Door gasket Part Number: PS11746830 is in the list of compatible items for your model. Your unit also has the bottom foam Seal # PS11748543. It is recommended to replace both parts at the same time. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
I have replaced the door gasket and the inner door insulation strip on dishwasher MDB6601AWS and it still leaks at the bottom left of the door. What else should I replace?

Hello James, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the Bottom Door Gasket that is attached and sold as part of the Inner Door Liner. Check for wear and damage to the left corner. We hope this helps!
Thank you for the opportunity to discuss my problem. My dishwasher has leaked on two occasions. I first replaced the door seal with success! Thank you for the video showing how to do this. The seal was expensive at $110 cdn dollars. Wow. Now i have a second leak at the bottom of the door. It seems to be coming from the middle of the door. I have taken the inside panel off and now plan on replacing the foam seal as instructed on your video. However, i am concerned that the leak might actually be the plastic panel at the bottom as it seems to be pulling apart at both ends. I am wondering if the plastic panel can be replaced and what that part number would be? Thank you

The inner seal foam should do the trick, however, we would like to look into the matter of the toe panel, but we do require your full model and serial number to do this correctly, so if you could please supply us with that information you would be very happy to look into this for you. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
