Detergent Cup would not latch closed
I ordered parts before opening. My theory was to have the parts so that the dishwasher was not apart for longer than necessary, in the hope of avoiding the wrath of momma bear who just wants a new one... Once I opened up the door I realized the spring for the main lever arm had broken its mount. I drilled a new hole and reattached the spring. I did not need any parts. However, the original parts corresponding to the three parts I ordered were all beat up and brittle, so I was happy to replace anyway. I did not even explain, she is happy the cup looks new and is happy with the dishwasher. It even says Cascade on it, almost like an upgrade :). If your cup does not latch I would order the three parts I did and also order the lever spring. It was very corroded after 30 years, so I would have replaced if I purchased it. Next time.. :)

I need to know how to remove the soap cup cover. It stopped latching after a 1 year old visited in my home. I don't know which parts i need until i can open it and look inside. Please let me know if i just need to exert a little more pressure or is there a trick to opening it.

Hi Bonnie, Thank you for your inquiry. Before beginning any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. Use a Philips head screw driver to remove the screws hold the inner panel to the door frame. Remove the panel. Pull out the retaining pin and use needle nose pliers to depress the tabs to detach the dispenser lever and cover. Prepare the new detergent dispenser cup cover for installation by inserting the lever. Make sure actuator arm and spring are intact on the inner panel. Keeping the lever aligned on the new cover and insert the lever through the panel and snap into place on the actuator arm. Insert the retaining pin to secure the lever. Now realign the panel in the door frame and secure with the screws. With the repair completed, you may now either plug the dishwasher back in or turn the circuit breaker back on. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Cup dispenser will not close. I replaced the dispenser lever and the cup dispenser still will not close. I checked the detergent cup release arm and it moves as expected, but when i assembled the dishwasher and closed the cup dispenser it will not remain closed. I don't know what to check next. What makes the cup dispenser stay closed? What part do i need?

Hi Algie, Thank you for your question. It sounds like you might have to think about looking at your timer as being the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
