Infinite Burner Switch - Small Element - 240V Specifications

This is a part for your range. This switch controls the stovetop surface burner. If you notice that your stove top is not turning on or is not adjusting to the corresponding desired heat, it is mostly likely due to the burner switch needing to be replaced. You will need a #1 square-head screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. Disconnect the power from the range. You will need to move the range out from the wall to remove the upper back panel to access to this part. This is an OEM genuine part.

Both front burners began heating too fast and too high. One damaged the finish on the splash pan.
At the Frigidaire parts website, I found the parts and saw that there are videos that show how to replace the burner controls. In brief:
1) Slide the range/oven out so you can get to the back of the control hood.
2) There are three screws that hold the cover in place (the video showed four).
2a) The video also suggests using a #1 square bit. I found that there was indeed a square hole in the caps of the screws, but they also had a hex head that a 1/4" hex nut driver fits. So I used that.
2b) Be careful taking out the last (top center) screw. When it comes free, the cover can drop and bruise or cut your foot or the floor. Having a helper is worth it!
3) The switch for the larger elements has a red dot on front and back. Match it with the one in place that has a red dot. The switch for the small element doesn't have a dot.
3a) Holding a new switch in your hand, remove one wire at a time from the switch in the control hood and put it in the same place on the new switch. I found that for my stove, there was a fixture holding two wires and another holding three wires. This made it impossible to put the wires on wrong.
3b) When all wires have been transferred, pull off the control knob in front and unscrew the two screws that hold the old switch in place. Take out the old switch and replace it with the new switch.
3c) Use the two screws to attach the new switch in its place and replace the control knob.
4) Repeat for as many switches as you purchased. I did all four.
5) Replace the cover.
6) Slide the range back into place.

I found black deposits on all the switches, that must have come from a contactor inside, so I was glad I replaced them all.

Another tip: while the unit is out, clean off the sides and back that you couldn't get to while it was in place. For us, this took as long or longer than the steps above for replacing the switches.

Long filter didn't fit, excessive plastic flashing, poor quality
hand tried flashing, still did not fit well. Too large. Appears to be made from worn out mold.
No instructions included with burner controller, it would have been helpful to have a wiring diagram as the new controller did not match old. Once wired, controller works great

Old part was replaced by mfg’r. Wiring different. No drawings or any info was included to show wiring.
I was forced to call in a pro repairman. Will cost me at least $150 for part and repairman. I could have done job if instructions on how to rewire had been included.

my burners would just heat up solid red even when i had controls turned down to 2 or 3. i would have to turn controls off and back on, then they still would just go back to glowing red
This was my first time ever working with electrical issues. My husband is not physically able to do repairs now. Very easy fix. Just viewed video repair instructions and it went exactly as instructed. Within 45 minutes, I had my stove repaired and cleaned and back in working order!! Great results. My range is working perfectly again and Mama is happy!!

Right rear burner not working properly
After a brief discussion with CS about the electric stove part was shipped it arrived and I proceeded to install I found it needed to be installed sideways not up & down like the old one. The terminals did not line up so I put the black lead first and the purple lead last in doing that I burned out the switch??? was not easy to install as the video showed his switch matched each wire? My installation was sideways??

new switch was not wired like old one
i first replaced element after old smoked & quit. replaced switch but i noticed when i started to replace the wires one at a time something didn't seem right. after checking the #s on the old one, they didn't match up with the new one.luckily i had the stove diagram from a packet on the back of the stove. i traced each wire according to the diagram and everything worked out fine. i'm just glad i didn't replace each wire to wire.the #'s were on the switch where each wire went which was different than the org. even though they looked the same.

Once the burner is hot and then the knob is turned down, the burner will keep heating up. Will this part fix that issue or is there another? Thanks.
For model number FEF352FSE
PartSelect logo
Hi Carl, Thank you for your question. I would actually suggest testing your burner, switch, and wire between the switch. Either one of these parts could be causing that issue. You can test your burner and switch with a multi-meter. Good luck with your repair.

We have lost heating to both the stove elements and oven. When you turn the stove top elements to a off position then turn back on there is a clicking noise then all power stops.

Hello Russ, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: the burner switches, the wiring harness, the main control board, and the temperature sensor. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Top elements sometimes go full-on and will not turn off CFEF366EMG. Has also been known to turn on low and still go on high heat, these problems are intermittent.
For model number CFEF366EMG
PartSelect logo
Hello Rod and thanks for writing. The surface element switch sends voltage to the surface element coil. Sometimes, when the surface element switch fails, the electrical contacts inside the switch fuse together, causing the switch to send continuous voltage to the surface element. If the surface element switch is defective, replace it. We hope this helps. Please contact us at any time

While cooking on the burner I heard a loud pop and then it quit working completely. The light comes on when I turn the knob but the burner will not work. Could it be this part or the element?
For model number GLEF384HBA
PartSelect logo
Hello Tayra, Thank you for the question. If the light comes on, this normally means it is a issue with the element. Only way to know %100 before placing an order is to test the continuity with a Multi Meter. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!

My 6 inch burner will heat up by its self, with the switch off. Causing my hot surface light to stay on. Element looks good. Do i need a switch? Thanks
For model number FEFL79DBL
PartSelect logo
Hi Bobby, Thank you for your question. It could be your switch. The two parts that you generally check when having an issue like this is your burner itself or the burner switch. You can test both parts with a multi meter to be sure if you wanted. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
